SPL Celtic news

The SPL are preparing the way for a Rangers newco to be welcomed back into the top division.

In a statement today the SPL have announced that any newco will only suffer a 10 or 15 point deficit for two seasons with a 75% reduction in commercial income for three seasons.

The new sanctions will be voted on at the end of the month and will make the process of liquidation and the formation of newco increasingly attractive to clubs in financial difficulties.

Under the proposals if Rangers remain in administration starting next season they will begin on -21 points, a newco would start on -10 points.

Seven resolutions will be put to the vote including: Resolution 1 proposes an increase in the sporting sanction (points deduction) on any Club which suffers or is subject to an Insolvency Event from 10 points to the greater of 15 points and 1/3 of the Club’s SPL points in the preceding season.

Resolution 2A proposes further sporting sanctions in the event that any Club undergoes an Insolvency Transfer Event (i.e. transfers its share in the SPL to a new company where this occurs because of the insolvency of the transferor) of 10 points in each of two consecutive seasons from the Insolvency Transfer Event.

Resolution 2B proposes revisions to the fee payment arrangements i.e. SPL fees to any Club which has undergone an Insolvency Transfer Event will be reduced by 75% in each of three consecutive seasons from the Insolvency Transfer Event.

What a corrupt, rotten, worthless organisation this is. Scotland is the laughing stock of the football world.
How can any rangers supporter continue to claim thsat Scottish football is not rigged when rules are re-written to allow them toperate after years of cheating. Breath-taking. whn this comes to pass, I will keep my money. No more Scottish football for me. What’s the point?
Celtic must fight this tooth and nail. where are UEFA in all of this?

    • JoeG says:

You are 100% correct. This is a disgusting set of circumstances to accomodate the corrupt. Clearly there are too many people in the establishment who stand to lose out if they are relegated or even eliminated from the league. Rules for them and rules for the rest of us in this day and age is so embarrassing for the Scottish game.

Is it really any wonder we are the brunt of all jokes in the UK?

What a slap in the face for all of the teams who have tried so hard to stay within the rules of the world game to date, and I don’t recall seeing this effort when Gretna went belly up a few years ago, and they played to the rules without cheating and raping every other club in the country, as well as in Europe!!!

What about the poor team who would be next in line to take advantage of a space in the SPL? How fair is this to them?

      Or don’t they count either?

This country is rotten to the core .Its a horrible anti- catholic , masonic-ridden toilet.

  • jebus says:

bhoycott all away grounds now!! its the only solution to hurt these corrupt bastards!!

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

What jebus said…and that’s for starters.
Let’s show a united front as SUPPORTERS and complain to UEFA….
I know it won’t do any good…but it willl expose the corruption that we’ve been paranoid about for one hundred years.

Utterly ludicrous proposals from the SPL…no wonder we lost a good TV deal for the much poorer one they chose. These clowns could not run a raffle, little wonder then most of their clubs are in serious financial difficulty.

To put a mere 2 year penalty on a club who have blatantly cheated for at LEAST 12 years is no punishment at all. The talk of less TV money is a red herring as both Celtic / Rangers were happy to discuss a better share of the TV money anyway….so Celtic too will lose money. The nonsense about no Europe for 3 years….Do they have to QUALIFY for Europe first ?? With a current wage bill of £ 26.5m and losing £ 10m a season it is clear this will have to be cut drastically so it’s highly doubtful they would make Europe at all anyway.

The punishment MUST fit the crime and more…
12 years of penalty should be the MINIMUM and the full repayment of ALL prize money stolen from clubs by cheating, titles / trophies to be removed from the record books.

Anything less and we shall see Motherwell, Hearts, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock queuing up to take a mere 10 point penalty and wiping out debts..what message is that for the clubs being run properly.

I dont agree that UEFA would be impotent as regards policing the masonic lodge at Hampden. I am of the opinion of every one of us in that it is a waste of time pursuing anything through Scottish litigation. So lets bombard UEFA to act against the undemocratic SFA.

  • Paulo says:

    Corrupt to its rotten core.

They cheated to the title last year.

We lost by 1 point, they should not have had Jelavic in their team; they still owe money for him.

    It’s disgusting.

  • Gerry D says:

It’s an all too predictable situation. I know it’s no done yet but I’m not the only one who could see this coming.

The choreographed set up between Murray & his patsy Whyte with the assistance of The SFA and the SPL and the Scottish Politicians sums Scotland up beautifully!

There is a order of things here where sectarian self interest is fundamental and all other principles, ethics and morality are subsidiary.

Ragers re entry into main stream football is more important to our establishment than funding education, health or even ragers beloved armed services.

There is no point trying to look for sporting integrity, it’s not that important!

Taxpayers will see Ragers arrogance & greed being penalised by a 10 point penalty for 2 years, having stolen over £100m from the public purse.

Sounds like a good deal but of course to maintain the choreography we need duff & duffer to complain bitterly about it, of course dark mingwall only knows bitter so no doubt his face will be filling our tv screens too.

We will then be told that the penalties must be fair as both parties are unhappy, lessons must be learned and in the interest of the game we need to move on.

A boycott of away games must be a stick on, but we need to do more.

Its already been muted that we will be displaying balloons at Hamden, there’s got to be a joke somewhere there, but it’s time for a conserted cross-club campaign encompassing fair minded football fans from all clubs and none.

Our game is dead should these new provisions be waltzed through!

    Its disgraceful but completely expected.

  • Gerry D says:

As if on cue britney tweets to use the ‘if both parties disagree then rules might be about right’ argument!

As predictable as they are complicit!
