Talks between Bill Miller and SFA/SPL confirmed
With the phrase incubator brought into the debate it seemed that the trucking magnate was attempting to put together an offer certain of rejection allowing Miller to walk away and say ‘at least I tried’.
Amazingly it seems that Miller’s proposals are being taken seriously by the Scottish footbal authorities!
The Rangers Supporters Trust have already given the Miller proposals the red card, seeing through it as a backdoor liquidation certain of CVA rejection with just over £10m for a creditors pot that could stretch to over £130m.
Yesterday Ally McCoist spoke for the first time of Rangers being guilty of footballing offences pleading for leniency.
“We are in no position to make demands to anybody, least of all the SFA,” the Rangers boss said. “We are in the wrong so we have to go and abide by the decisions that are taken upon us.
“We’re just hopeful that the powers that be are – I’m loathed to use the word sympathetic – but realistic of the situation.”
Despite never having set foot in an SPL ground or put up any financial guarantee it appears that Miller is already in talks with the SFA and SPL hoping to minimise any punishment for a decade of undeclared payments to players.
Discussing the Miiler proposals in today’s Scotsman Paul Clark of Duff and Phelps admitted: “What he has actually been doing is speaking to the SFA and SPL.
“Some of those discussions we have been involved in, some of them we haven’t. I can’t tell you precisely what he’s now doing, even though I do know.
“He’s used words like guarantee, I think ‘comfort’ would be a better word. One could liken it to parameters of the measures they could take. I think they are very close if they are not already at that position. They are very close with discussions.”
The credibility of Scottish football has already taken a pounding this season, just yesterday Lee Wallace was helping Rangers to beat Hearts with the Ibrox club signing the defender with no real intention of paying the full transfer fee.
Clubs across Europe are out of pocket to provide McCoist with a squad for the current campaign with barely a word of condemnation coming from the SPL or SFA.
A statement first thing on Monday morning detailing the extent of their discussions with Miller are essential- anything less just heightens the suspicions of supporters that one club is above the laws of the game.
