Celtic’s u-19 side swept aside a tough challenge from Hibs to win their tenth SPL game in a row.

Goals from Curtis Jones, James Alabi, John Herron and Bahridin Atajic sealed the points for the home side at Barrowfield and lifted the points tally onto the 56 mark.

A win in the final match of the season, at home to Rangers will take the young hoops past the record breaking 57 point tally that the Ibrox side collected in season 2007/08.

McGregor almost gave Celtic the leading the 15th minute when his inswinging free kick was deflected onto the post but Hibs raced quickly to the other end only to find Robbie Thom Jones made the breakthrough.son racing to the edge of his box to block a breakaway.

There were a few tasty challenges going about with the referee providing a running commentary explaining decisions to the visiting players.

Five minutes from the break Herron almost broke the deadlock but shot over the bar after an Alabi shot had been parried by the Hibs keeper.

Just when it looked like the half would end goal-less Jones made the breakthrough rising powerfully at the back post to head McGregor’s corner low into the net.

Within a minute of the restart Hibs lost their number 6 after he picked up his second yellow card for a foul on Bahrudin Atajic.

On the hour mark Alabi doubled Celtic’s lead when he stuck his leg out to divert a header from Jones past the Hibs keeper. Within a minute Celtic went three up when Herron dived full length to net after a scramble in the box.

Six minutes from time Atajic netted with a low 20 yard drive following a short corner by McGregor on the right.

Sign of a really good team, making a few changes and still they churn out great results. A fantastic season can turn into an absolutely awesome one with a new points record & bringing the cup back home.

Even better things to come from these lads as they mature & learn more. Smashing records is a great habit – make it happen young guns.
