SPL newco newsDespite being absent from today’s SPL meeting at Hampden it was Rangers that set the agenda with a vote on newco proposals predictably delayed until the end of the month.

Duff and Phelps sent along a proxy to act in Rangers interests with a decision to vote on new financial fair play rules postponed until May 30.

By that date Ross County will be entitled to a vote with Hibs or more likely Dunfermline Athletic demoted to the Scottish Football League.

Announcing todays stalemate an SPL statement read: “Immediately prior to today’s General Meeting, a written request was received from the Administrators of Rangers FC to adjourn the meeting dealing with financial fair play.

“The other eleven clubs agreed with this request and the general meeting was adjourned to 10am on Wednesday 30 May 2012.

“The eleven member clubs present in person at today’s General Meeting unanimously called for the power to deal with any newco application to be moved from the Board to the clubs.

“This requires 21 clear days’ notice. The clubs will therefore meet again on 30 May to consider a resolution designed to achieve this.

“In the event that an application for transfer of share to a newco is received before 30 May, then it can be dealt with by the SPL Board. The SPL Board have indicated that they would, in those circumstances, call together the clubs before any such decision was made.”

The lack of a decision on admitting a newco will intensify the uncertainty hanging over Rangers.

Tennessee trucking tycoon Bill Miller has been elected as preferred bidder but the various issues surrounding the club are as unclear as they were on February 14 when Duff and Phelps were put in control.

Miller has gone on record as stating that his offer is conditional on no footballing sanctions being applied to Rangers- with no verdict coming from the SPL the chances of Rangers avoiding liquidation next month is highly unlikely with the players due to return to full pay on June 1.

I smell a rat. Behind closed doors deals have been done and the cheats will have received assurance that they will be back in without penalty. I do hope that UEFA are watching. How could they not have a representative present.

They know no shame. Despicable, despicable people, scummy organisation. No one will ever forget this though.

They will forever be tarnished as is Scottish football.

    • JoeG says:

They have already tarnished the game in Scotland!!
This said, the tail is wagging the dog here while those in the establishment buy themselves time to find ways to make it “suicidal” for the clubs to vote any other way but in favour of the establishment.

The SFA: weak, corrupt, and useless since 1873. The SPL: weak, corrupt, and useless since 1998.

Let’s hope that HMRC and UEFA have the will and the integrity to do what’s right- or at least to twist a few arms at the SFA and the SPL so that they have to do what’s right.

i think our only hope of the right thing being done will only happen if uefa step in and take control of this situation. i think they must.

  • Jimmy McGovern says:

All they have really succeeded in doing is exposing to the world just how corrupt the powers behind Rangers FC actually are.

If they are allowed to enter the SPL as a newco withut penalty they will carry the tarnished title of ‘cheats’ until; the next time they keel over and die.

Un utter disgrace, a blemish and a blight on Scotland as a footballing nation and as a country. From here on in Rangers FC will be known as the team that cheated to win.

I thought it was a case of stalling for more time for bullying & threats from the Ibrokes ‘spokesmen’ but the Ross County voting part sums up how underhanded & down right evil they are. Rankers are truly the scum of the earth & they should be shown no mercy.

  • johnp says:

How can rangers get away with treating the SPL with such utter contempt? What excuse was given for no even sending a representative? Why did the meeting go ahead? Did they not even have the good grace to inform the board that they would not be attending before the meeting.

Typical behaviour. arrogant and ignorant. The next time that Neil Lennon has to appear why noy just phone in sick on the day.

Sorry for shouting this but LAWWELL NEEDS TO SPEAK UP NOW!

    Corrupt to it’s rotten core

  • CarlisleCelt says:

Think I am more relaxed than you guys posting here, perhaps it is naivity but I do not think there is any chance of this newco thing working. I think they are screwed!

    • paranoidandroid says:

More than anything else, I want them to be punished properly for cheating. I also want a level playing field from now on, apart from that I dont really care whether they live, die, become a newco, or have Duff and Phelps playing up front for them next season.

  • williebhoy says:

Surely whoever is relegated MUST still have a vote if a team is to be added to the league ???

They can vote on any NEWCO they wish, but they will need to HAVE an agreement with Crook Whyte AND a buyer before that date to present otherwise they are simply offering a team that is skint, will have no players and masses of debts facing liquidation.
Forget Bill Miller he will never come across with the money required for this venture.

  • CelticRhebel says:

Somebody must have an email address for someone at UEFA…..I can’t seem to find one anywhere. If anybody has got an address please post it….I have to write to them to let them know that the vast majority of football fans are sickened by the corruption, cheating and bullying coming from Rankers. Have the SPL board got nae baws to stand up to these fascists.?

  • Joe says:

I never noticed this before today. But the delay was to get rid of Dunfermline Chairman Yorkston before the vote takes place for real. He was in favour of slamming rangers cheating and thieving organization.

They have obviously spoken with and made some false promises to Ross County.

By they, I include the SPL and SFA in that as well as the corrupt orgnization from govan. What a disgrace this SPL and SFA are.

They are bending over backwards to save their establishment team, slipping all of us the big one in the process.

  • chiefinkorea says:

I can’t get my head round all this.

The statement said all 11 clubs agreed (Celtic included obviously) and on 31st of May, Ross County will vote instead of the club relegated (we now know that’s definitely Dunfermline). Are they saying Yorkston quietly gave up Dunfermlines right to vote on something that so clearly affects their future?

    Something stinks.
