SPL to publish 11 club fixture list

SPL Celtic newsMonday’s SPL fixture list will have one obvious omission- Rangers.

Confirmation that the Govan based club are to be liquidated has brought the Rangers crisis to a conclusion while the battle for newco looks like being very public and messy.

According to a report in today’s Daily Telegraph the fixture list will include Club X with uncertainty over the identity of the twelfth club in the SPL.

Charles Green faces an increasingly hostile task in trying to convince supporters of Rangers that his newco is the true successor to the club that died on Thursday with Walter Smith leading a rival consortium looking to get a cut price deal for Ibrox and Murray Park.

Neither group has any registered players or produced audited acconts meaning that they are highly unlikely to receive an SFA licence or an invite straight into the SPL.

There appears to be no clear guidance in the SPL regulations on how to replace a liquidated member with Dunfermline or Dundee the main candidates.

Dunfermline were in the SPL for season 2011/12 while Dundee are the highest placed Scottish Football League club from last season.

Dundee’s possible inclusion has already upset some First Division clubs after the Dark Blues went into administration during the 2010/11 season but resurfaced after a six pence in the pound payout to creditors.

Raith Rovers director Turnbull Hutton said: “You now have the prospect of a team which has been in administration twice replacing a club going to the wall – don’t try and tell me the game in Scotland is fine.

“Dundee did well to stay in the First Division but the bottom line is they paid six pence in a pound to all their creditors and cleared all their debts.

“Other clubs could look to go down that route – take the hit and rebuild – but choose not to. Now Dundee will get the chance to replace another club which was mismanaged in the top flight.”

Club X, is that what they are called now? I was in a place in Amsterdam once called Club X. It was full of dodgy looking characters in pin stripe suits and from what i recall very little cash. Quite appropriate for the former R*ngers then.

Club ‘X’ a gathering of aliens trying to invade the Scottish Premier League…be afraid!…be very afraid!
    NO TO NEW-CO!

The existing TV deal still has 12 months to run. Much is made about SKY possibly making a lesser offer. But what happens is our clubs show increased attendances if the games proves it’s integrity, more chance of success…why not ???

Our game would be more attractive to any broadcaster as it’s on the UP.

Besides which 12 months to find better than the miserly offer from SKY should not be beyond any marketing department.

I understand where people are coming from regarding Dundee however the main difference between them and Rangers is that, although morally repugnant, Dundee did achieve a CVA.

I, probably like most reading, was brought up to believe that if you can’t afford something then you don’t buy it. With the exception of a mortgage, which is bad enough, debt just worries me.

The simple fact that I’m beholden to someone else for goods received or services delivered has always worried me.

Sadly there are too many people out there masquerading as ‘business people’ who have no such qualms.

I have not renewed my season ticket based on the fact that Rangers have been liquidated and simply do not deserve to be there. If they had achieved a CVA, again although I find it offensive, I would have renewed in the same way that I renewed when Motherwell achieved a CVA.

The simple fact is that they haven’t and therefore have forfeited the right to play in the top division.

Bit harsh on dundee like it or not a CVA was agreed between them and their creditors. they also had a record & un-precedented 25 point penalty for going into administration there was no point deduction first time around for them. Yet still ended up easily avoidin relegation despite only having a skeleton squad to choose from, something like 13 squad players supplemented with trialists and juniors playing for free (neil mccann).

If it hAdn’t been for that points deduction they would have finished second as they finished only have been a point or two behind Dunfermline & that was due to not winning their last league game. To then finish 2nd this season is some going. They are actually still paying off some of those debts and should be clear by February next year. Their fans also played a huge part in saving the club contributing a lot more per head than the so called rangers fighting fund. A mate of mine pledged £1000 to help save them.

At least if dundee do take rainjurz place they’ll have done it on purely footballing grounds as the highest placed SFL team.

Whatever way you look at it the rainjurz situation has been a disgrace for them & an embarrasement for scottish football. The SFA need to ensure they do the right thing and that means rainjurz being punished for all & any wrongdoing.

A newco can’t be re-admitted straight to SPL Dundee have a huge fanbase probs 5th biggest in scotland they’ll easy take several thousand to away games. I’d happily have them in SPL in place of them.
