Stuttgart Kickers v CelticCeltic will play Stuttgart Kickers on July 15 as part of their pre-season build up.

Yesterday Celtic confirmed that they will play Ajax in the Amsterdam Arena on July 21 with the Stuttgart fixture suggesting that the team will be based at a German training camp.

In recent seasons Celtic have travelled to Australia and the USA for high profile friendlies but the trip to Germany is a return to the type of pre-season build-up that the club preferred a decade ago basing themselves in Holland or Germany.

Announcing the visit of Celtic on their website Kickers boss Dirk Schuster said: “We look forward to the highlight from this well-known opponents.”

It’s likely that at least one more friendly will be arranged in the week leading up to the Ajax match.

Tickets for the match go on sale on June 14 with prices ranging from 25-9€.

Jurgen Klinsman started his career at Kickers Stuttgart before moving on to city neighbours Vfb Stuttgart then starring for Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Spurs. Klinsman coached the German national side at the 2006 World Cup and currently coaches the USA national side.

Kickers Stuttgart are currently in the Third Division of the Bundesliga after topping a regional league last season.

Neil Lennon’s pre-season plans are all being geared towards the Champions League qualifiers with the third round ties played either side of the opening SPL match on August 4/5.

The qualifying draw will be made on July 20 with Celtic seeded in the third qualifying round and also the fourth round if they progress to that stage.

Failure to win their third round qualifier would mean that they drop into the final Europa League qualifier, if Celtic lose out in the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League they will drop into the group stage of the Europa League.
