Donald Findlay rejects First Division place for Sevco

Donald Findlay Rangers newsCowdenbeath chairman Donald Findlay won’t be voting Sevco into the First Division!

Findlay is currently supporting John Brown’s takeover attempt at Ibrox and is a former vice-chairman of Rangers.

It had been assumed that ‘the Blue Brazil’ were in favour of the SFL providing Sevco with a First Division spot but the bullying tactics of the SPL and SFA have backfired.

In a statement tonight Findlay said: “Speaking for myself, and myself alone, it is clear to me that people at the highest levels of our game have tried to hold a gun to my head and the heads of my colleagues.

“That will never work but I have a long memory and will not forget what they tried to do and the way they tried to bend me, and this Club, to their will. That will never be allowed to happen.”

The Cowdenbeath statement added: “If integrity in our game is to survive, then Rangers must start off SFL life in the Third Division.

“This is an SPL problem but the Clubs of that league have taken their decision for reasons which they must explain to all Scottish football supporters.

“The SPL and SFA should have resolved this long before now. They have tried to pass the buck to the SFL clubs and have tried to force them to accept “Rangers” into the First Division – to provide the greatest benefit to the SPL.

“This lacks any integrity and casts a dark shadow over our game.  Cowdenbeath FC condemns this approach.

“The Board is in no doubt that our stance is consistent with integrity and the long term financial future of our Club. We ask all supporters of what ever Club, who share our views, to rally round and back us in the Season ahead.”

The tone of the Cowdenbeath statement is very similar to a statement from Partick Thistle earlier today.

No First Division club has came out to give their support for the First Division place hatched by Neil Doncaster and Stewart Regan.

With Sevco refused an SPL place the responsibility now falls on Regan to provide leadership but after over a year sidestepping the issues created by the crisis at Rangers it’s unlikely that the SFA chief is suddenly going to ‘claim ownership’ of the problem.

Donald Findlay and John McCririck – separated at birth. Both are objectionable twaddle talkers but Findlay is a dangerous bigot.

They MUST apply for acceptance to the 3rd division, not they MUST be accepted into the 3rd surely. We have still to resolve the sanctions required from the Appelate Tribunal as the transfer embargo is now off the table, only leaving a Scottish Cup ban (Which is ineligible as Sevco 5088 Ltd are not in the Scottish Cup) or a 12 month suspension – Then we have the cheating with dual contracts to settle BEFORE any decision should be made on possible league entry.

Maybe this will give them time to get a proper business plan together, some accounts, some fans, also a chance to settle outstanding footballing debts.

I am sure Cowdenbeath fans will be viewing Findlay’s talk about a now defunct club while being heavily connected with the Blue Brazil in a poor light. He should have more than enough to contend with rather the problems faced by a new club.

Does “integrity” mean what I think it means or has its meaning been changed recently?

  • Its obvious by the way the SFL clubs have had the attempted frighteners put on by the SFA etc to “accept what we propose or else” that this has backfired massivley.

However if Servco start in SFL3 you have to wonder how many stars from Celtic will move on.

We are seeing rumblings with Ki and Wattana.
    They wont be the last.
Even Forster dithered and for me he’s very lucky boy to have such in fan in Lennon
Cannot command his box and weak on crosses.
The weakest 1st choice keeper we have had in some time.
Celtic will find it really hard to attract the quality we need to at least have a go in Europe and the SPL will be tied up without issue.

Sure I will get pelters for this but I hope Servco some how find their way in division one.
We dont need a martyrdom campaign from Servco as they climb up through the lower leagues.
Better to have them away for one season and for us to be in a better position to keep the stars we want to, as well as having greater finance and pulling power to attract the quality we can afford.

    • Maertyn says:

Not pelters, I respect your views even if they’re different from mine.

I’m just sick of the negativity surrounding this mess of issues. It’s all been about greed, avarice, hatred, arrogance, incompetence, perfidiousness and threats.

Celtic will do well to reject all of the above. They will prosper as they do so. Cloth may have to be cut to suit but there will be a solution to the imbalances in European Club football. Rankers weren’t the only club at it. Mightier will fall.

With 60,000 thousand fans and a global audience up there with the best of them we should be able to grow as a club in our own right.

Yes. There’s a lot of unknowns and variables. But this isn’t the death of Scottish football. As long as a wean kicks a ball football will live.

Now I’m off for a game of headers and volley’s with my wee boy!

I don’t care for feckin Rankers anyway.
      Hail hail.

  • Dougie says:

scrap them altogether! I need cheap bricks from the demolition of their stadium to build an outside dunny! Ill smile everytime I take a crap in my new long drop thats recycled with bricks from thier shit hoose! HH!

  • if newco are accepted into div 1 will Mr Dallas make a comback hail.hail

I am absolutely amazed at Celtic supporters who are so cowardly they appear to lack a belief that CELTIC can survive without Rangers.

What are you talking about? Are you a Celtic supporter or an ‘Old Firm’ fan? If it is the latter you support Rangers as much as Celtic. I would love for Celtic never to play Rangers again! They are a disgrace to football and if they disappear forever then good.

This is an opportunity for Celtic to re-organise, promote youth, spend money on the academy while investing only in players from abroad that will add to the team. Will cuts have to be made, of course, but Celtic need to restructure and plan for the future without them. Focus on Europe.

If Celtic are playing in the Champions League players will sign. But promoting youth, not only at Lennoxtown but across Scottish football should be what Celtic are involved in, not worrying about Corpserangers and the four games a season. The way they have folded shows what a small time outfit they are. We should be thinking bigger.
