FIFA set to step into Sevco dispute

Charles Green newsFIFA are set to step into the Sevco crisis after the SFA refused to issue international clearance for five former Rangers players.

Steven Davis, Steven Whittaker, Steven Naismith, Steven Ness and Steven Lafferty have all had their transfers to new clubs blocked.

To no-one’s surprise the SFA have backed out of making a decision on the international clearance despite having one of the sharpest administrators in the game on board in the form of President Campbell Ogilvie.

Following the decision to liquidate Rangers on June 12 Charles Green bought the assets for his Sevco club and announced that he’d be applying TUPE regulations to transfer over the contracts of employees of the old club.

Players Union chief Fraser Wishart highlighted the fact that no-one was obliged to transfer over to Sevco with Davis, Whittaker, Naismith, Ness and Lafferty announcing their intention to move on.

Last month Wishart revealed: “Should the Players wish to transfer across to the newco, TUPE ensures that they do so on their existing contractual terms.

“Equally TUPE affords every employee the statutory right to object to the transfer; employers cannot select which parts of TUPE they wish to apply.

“If a Player wishes to object to being transferred his contract of employment would immediately come to an end leaving him with no contract, no dismissal and no right to compensation from either oldco or newco.

“Both the Club and the Player are then free from their contractual obligations.”

It would be a major surprise if the PFA, Everton, Southampton, Norwich, Sion and Stoke City has misinterpreted the TUPE regulations.

FIFA’s involvement in this dispute may bring some unwelcome attention to the way that the SFA have acted over the last few months and their desire to shoe-horn Sevco into Division One of the SFL going against almost all rules of the game for liquidated clubs.

What a pile of worthless, cowardly, bigoted crap the SFA are. Wouldn’t it be great if FIFA finally found out how this country’s football is run. Come on FIFA do Scottish football a huge favour- sack the lot of them.

    • NoPretender! says:

that favour you ask of fifa will infact be to the detriment of celtic fc as they will pose sanctions upon scottish football which will result in all participating clubs bein’ removed from europe & scotland bein’ removed from world cup qualifiers. the scottish football authorities kno’ this but seem to care little as you would expect from such corrupted organizations.

becareful what you wish for….it may come true!

      • paranoidandroid says:

I understand what you mean, but I was hoping that this time they might only punish the ones who actually deserve it.

  • sands1888 says:

These clowns have done it again, you think they would have learned about not drawing attention to themselves with challenging the transfer ban appeal and the grief it brought them, and the joy its gave us, now fifa will get involved and if they do there job properly it will be the beggining of the end for there friends in the lodge, sorry i meant the sfa

  • Chris says:

To be fair, you have to look at the procedure for registrations, the potential club goes to their football association who in turn contact the previous club’s association. They then seek clearance from the previous club (Sevco) and they decline giving it, disputing it too if you like. The matter then is referred to UEFA/FIFA who must decide the outcome. Don’t get me wrong, SFA, bunch of muppets not fit for purpose

    • Thai Tim says:

The previous club was not Sevco. It was Rangers who are being liquidated. Sevco are not even a registered football team yet and legally have no association with Rangers. This TUPE thing might backfire on Sevco. If they keep insisting Sevco has associations with Rangers then Sevco will be liable for all the unpaid debts.

  • GSW says:

TeamTalk are reporting the story also,

“A spokesperson for FIFA said: “At the time of writing, FIFA does not appear to have been approached by any association with respect to the international clearance of any particular player currently registered with Rangers FC.” ”

I wouldn’t get your hopes up, it’s not going to all blow up over this either.

“FIFA’s involvement in this dispute may bring some unwelcome attention to the way that the SFA have acted over the last few months and their desire to shoe-horn Sevco into Division One of the SFL going against almost all rules of the game for liquidated clubs.”

    You wish!

    • paranoidandroid says:

It was corruption, complacency, and arrogance fostered by a sense of being entitled to be treated as special that destroyed old Rangers. Could the same thing happen to Sevco? It seems possible.

      • GSW says:

At the risk of feeding your paranoia further android, did you know that NL’s being referring to “newco” as “Rangers” all day? Bit of a blow to you I’m sure, but I think that makes it official! NL’s in on the conspiracy as well it would seem.
        😉

        • Aldo says:

What’s your point GSW? That you want some third div or junior team to be called rangers and no sevco?

        • GSW says:

No Aldo, the point is they are “Rangers” whether you like it or not. There’s a sort of inevitability about it, the sooner you catch on, the less painful for you it will be.
          😉

        • The Hurricane says:

GSW….. The Corrupt Rangers that you have been follow following are gone! dead! BUST! and surely you Know the reason why! It must be good for the game when ANY Cheating,Lying Corrupt institution have been caught out and eventually LIQUIDATED!you know what that means, or do you? If your Newco Scotland are successful with their application to join the Scottish F.L. Good on them! After all it is a Brand new football team, just out the wrapper! Have fun in the 3rd division!….If you are playing at all, Next Season!

  • JoeG says:

There is no question we will suffer from this imibilic indecision to punish the old rangers. Not only are the SFA looking bad for today, they are exposing their inabilities for the last hundred years of turning a blind eye to the corruption within the walls of ibrox.
The SFA are a disgrace and we are all about to be punished for their imcompetence and bigotry.

  • GSW says:

    Chris is correct,

I’d add though, it isn’t up to the SFA to decide this. If Rangers don’t sign them over the SFA can’t release them, it isn’t the SFA’s fault. They’ll get temporary registrations from fifa while the case goes to arbitration. So not a real problem for anybody.

  • williebhoy says:

I can’t see any way that UEFA / FIFA will take action against other Scottish clubs. In times of dispute that’s what they are there for, in this case it’s fairly straightforward…previous club now in process of liquidation – no longer able to participate as a football club. Therefore the players have been released to the Association. Sevco have no claim whatsoever over their registrations and such stupidity by Green will only see others decide to follow – follow.

Very much doubt that UEFA will get involved in any other disputes unless asked to intervene by our clubs. Sevco are fast heading for a cash crisis and look certain to enter administration which will put Green’s regime under real pressure.

  • Joe McHugh says:

If things follow the Sion model FIFA will rule on players being entitled to walk away from a club in liquidation and warn the SFA to apply the rules properly or the international teams and any clubs in European competition will be in bother.

That warning finally got the Swiss FA to take action on Sion.

  • mulsiebhoy says:

Yes Joe, they did..but I suspect there was no hidden agenda/vendetta against a membership club to contend with! HH x

  • neil says:

it would be better if that club went out of existence

  • Glen says:

If Armageddon does happen and Scottish football does
implode(sic)… would Celtic be free to apply to go south of the border ??.. never again having to deal with those bigoted/bias bunch of morons in the spl/sfa

  • Tony B says:

I wouldn’t read too much into Neil Lennon’s continuing to refer to Ben Johnson FC as rangers.
He probably just doesn’t know what to call The Pies at the moment,so continues to use their defunct name.
This of course has been seized upon by desperate orcs clutching at any straws they can, and of course the fawning lackeys of the laptop loyal who watch fearfully and impotently as the ole gravy train heads inexorably and with increasing momentum for the buffers.

    • GSW says:

Thanks Tony, presummably as it’s alright for NL, it being more convenient, to refer to “Rangers” its also OK for us to call them that without one of you lot having a fit?

      😉

    • NoPretender! says:

maybe he just dont want bombs or bullets in the post or even a disrepute charge (this is scotland & he is neil lennon) from the orc’s….maybe jus maybe…what has u trollin on here anyhow – ragersmedia miss the payment on their server or you come to see how an honest & intelligent article reads?

Goodbye fat Sally & the Gollum’s of Govan!

  • sands1888 says:

Gsw, take yourself away to fuck you poison filled rodent nobody is interested in your opinion here. You have a lot of time on your hands with having no club to follow, do you not have a wife to beat, a chapel to vandalise or whatever you shower do when your not urinating yourselves and listening to the queens speech?

  • Tony B says:

You can call Ra Pies whatever you like but rangers are dead. You know it and we know it.
Nobody is having a fit other than Bummer Broon and his ilk, who at least have provided us with some of the best unintentional comedy moments in many a long year.
“Youse boat ra pies. Youse arra investurrrs!”
    Priceless!

  • Joe McHugh says:

How embarassing would it be to watch your beloved football club being washed away with one chancer after another making a quick buck out of it 😉 , the club being liquidated 😉 , the support unable to muster a worthwhile defence for their ‘institution’ and to be spending your time as a smart ass on a rivals website.

On July 28 would you rather be watching Inter Milan or Cambuslang Rangers? 😉 😉

  • GSW says:

Come on Guys, no bad feelings eh! We’ll be playing together on the park again soon enough! gers vs the ‘tic. Can’t be that unwelcome for you surely!

  • Tony B says:

The ole Bummer Broon in a grotesque parody of JFK as he addressed the assembled dozens on the steps of Aye Broke.
    “Ich bien ein PIE”

  • sands1888 says:

No interest in your soon to be in administration sevco, no desire to share a stadium with your fans ever again, the old firm tag has held us back for years and even if you get back to the spl there will never be an old firm game again. Rangers are dead, its time everyone dealt with it celtic football club 1888 – the end of time, ouch

  • GSW says:
