Charles Green newsCharles Green expects Sevco to be gratened SFA membership today as Ally McCoist prepares a recruitment drive.

On Friday the SFA announced that they had come to an agreement to grant Sevo Rangers’ membership with a transfer embargo starting on September 1.

That gives McCoist five weeks to build a team with departures expected as Sevco prepare for life in Division Three without the prospect of European football and a dramatic drop in income.

Craig Beattie and Ian Black trained at Murray Park yesterday with McCoist scouring the list of free agents to put together a squad- within budget- to win promotion.

At one stage it was suggested that Green was looking to change manager but with McCoist’s status to the clubs’ support Green has become a big fan of his manager.

“Rangers is a name but it’s also the manager who the players want to come and play for,” Green claimed.

“I think people within Rangers have seen first-hand what Ally has had to do since February.

“But the reality is the players who are looking to join have seen it from the outside.”

Striker Andrew Little looks like joining Lee McCulloch, Lee Wallace, Neil Alexander and Kirk Broadfoot with Green pleased by that development.

He added: “Andrew Little is coming back to the club. We have agreed terms with him and hopefully he’ll re-sign so I think people will see Rangers coming out the mire.”

If they are granted a licence Sevco will face Brechin on Sunday in the Ramsdens Cup with the League Cup tie with East Fife put back to August 7 to avoid a clash with Celtic’s SPL opener against Aberdeen.

Even free agents want signing on fee’s…with a mere 450 season tickets sold it’s clear the fans don’t trust Green. No compromises should be made on the sanctions it’s clear cut and nothing really to do with Sevco.

They can sign who they like, the problem as ever will be in paying them. I’d expect any new player to demand payment of signing on fee etc up front as will any possible transfer.

Re-signing Andy Little, a guy they thought so much of they didn’t bother to offer him a new deal, has since been unable to find another club so falls into their price range of hee haw & talent range of low….Sure to add 000’s to the gate 🙂

I can see all those world class talents clambering to get onboard to sign for Sally. Must have one of the worst records of any manager in history…Lost every tournament he has entered at least he’s consistent.

Like williebhoy, I’d quite like to know how they intend to pay guys like Beattie when they’re in debt up to their eyeballs and playing in the third division?

Don’t jump the gun yet lads, Gazza said he’s available to play!

i wouldnt mind playing in goal for them although i like to play with my hands behind my back 🙂

Robbie Savage has offered to play for free, texted Charlie Green according to Savage on twitter.

    So. Arithmetic time.

Beattie and Black gonna be around 3-5 grand a week surely. Anything up half a million a year plus fees.

Old guard of Wallace and elbows must be on at least that again if not more. 1 million. At least.

Plus the young fellas would surely be on 500 to a grand a week. So say 25 a year. How many they got? Say 10. Up to 1.25 million to budget for and no a dish washed.

Now these are pure guesses but I think I’m being quite lenient with the figures but it will surely be a minimum if all ops costs are taken into it, no?

So in comparison to other levels of turnover and operating costs for other clubs, what does that mean?

An actual question as I don’t know but is prize money for winning the division that kind of money? What about a Ramsden cup win? The Scottish cup probably won’t even pay that for a final win.

The season book sales are slow so where is it going to come from? The investors? Pfft. They’ll need to shift 5000 books to make enough just to play the players. Oh oh.

I seem to remember a while back when gretna went bust there was a massive amount said about how this sort of thing should never have happened and we can’t allow teams to buy their way up the leagues running at continual losses.

Not much said about this situation right enough.
