Fraser Forster Celtic newsFraser Forster was the toast of the Celtic support and the trend setter on twitter after his heroics against Helsingborgs.

Kris Commons and Georgios Samaras got the goals that give Celtic a great chance of reaching the group stage of the Champions League but it was the Geordie keeper that caught they eye.

After the match Neil Lennon revealed that he had used the nationwide ITV platform to provide his keeper with extra motivation for the match.

The Celtic boss said: “Fraser’s done his chances (of an England call-up) no harm tonight.

“I said you’d have an audience tonight and to go and show them how good you are. I thought he was excellent tonight. We’ve been banging the drum about him for a while, but it’s not for us to say.”

Forster pulled off a series of impressive stops, using his frame to his advantage as he narrowed the angles and played the percentage game perfectly.

Modestly after the match he tweeted: “Great display by the lads, delighted with the win and clean sheet.”

Fan @brianfox32 asked Aston Villa keeper  @No1shaygiven ‘wot do u think of big Forster Shay? Good enough for England?’ And got the reply ‘yes he had Great game tonight’.

Other fans were equally as impressed with ?@BroganRoganTrev tweeting: “Fraser Forster my man of the match– that will do the confidence no end of good. If not for him score could have been very different.”

@GlasgowGandW added: “Fraser Forster MOTM by far, amazing performance.”

Cheekily @Creg1888 asked: “Fraser Forster, Take a bow! Artur who?”

Big Fraser had a fantastic game.
Really pleased he signed, best keeper we’ve had in years 22/23 year old.

Obviously, I enjoyed the result last night, and we played well, at times.

But that was a scary game. We needed big Fraser to be at his best because Helsinborg ripped right through the center of our defence about half a dozen times. We still panic under the least bit of pressure. If we’d been playing a team with better finishers, or with more luck, it could have been about 5-2 to them.

We’ve got the makings of a good team. But we desperately need to add an experienced CH, someone who can take control and calm people down when the pressure’s on. If we don’t, and if we qualify for the group stages, we could get a real doing off of someone.

  • Thought the big man was superb top quality goalkeeper some great saves seems to step up a few gears in europe and was needed last night when Charlie and Matthews decided to have there worst games in a Celtic shirt in the first half.

Bringing on Forrest at half time was a master stroke from Lenny as he got us out with some great runs and brought the rest of the team out with him just a great night first half we got away with it second half we we terrific great defending and great attacking and proberly should of had another one or two.

Great night for Glasgow with sevco getting into the ramsdens cup last eight lol hail hail

Fraser Forster was terrific and has been great ever since we sold Cha! Cha was the only man that big Fraser worried about with his penalty kick back passes. Still a great night’s work from the whole team and their confidence will be sky high from that result. Next up the butcher boys of Caley rangers.
