Ally McCoist Rangers newsThird Division newcomers Sevco salvaged a controversial point away to Berwick Rangers.

Only a bizarre honest mistake from referee Mike Tumilty in injury time prevented second bottom Berwick from winning their first match of the season.

“I’m angry, I’m disappointed, I’m embarrassed,” Sevco boss Ally McCoist said after the final whistle. “That is arguably the worst performance that I’ve seen in a long long time from any Rangers team.

“There was a careless attitude, careless passing, not enough people wanting the ball, not enough people demanding the ball or going into dangerous areas- it was totally lacklustre performance from start to finish.

“Regardless of the result we must have better players, surely to put on a better performance. Our fans deserve better and that was miles short today.”

Despite being outplayed for large parts of the first half Sevco took the lead in jury time through Andy Little.

Berwick refused to buckle after the break with substitute Fraser McLaren tucking away the equaliser just five minutes after coming on.

In the 90th minute Neil Alexander pulled off a spectacular save from a 25 yard drive from McLaren with Tumilty blowing for a mystery infringement just before Townsley headed the corner into the net.

Ally McCoist gave a debut to former Barcelona target Anestis Argyriou alongside Carlos Bocanegra with the Ibrox boss able to select from a combination of seasoned internationalists as well as the best prospects from the conveyor belt of talent from Murray Park.

Berwick settled quickly as they attempted to bounce back from last week’s 3-2 defeat away to Annan Athletic.

Manager Ian Little’s plan looked to be working well but the homeside were undone in first half injury time but McLaren’s goal gave Berwick their second point of the season.

Next Sunday Sevco host Third Division pacesetters Elgin at Ibrox.

They say that blood is thicker than watter . . .Ali McCoist is thicker than both! Belive it or not Ali was advanced at school . . .aw the other bairns in his class were eight years auld, Ali wis fourteen!

He’s angry, disappointed and embarrassed. He’s at his wits end. . . it wis a very short journey. He might talk like an idiot, and act like an idiot, but don’t let that fool ye . . .he really is an idiot. Ali thought a thimble was a thort thecret thign! Ali is definitely a man o’ conviction . . .a few o’ them are still on appeal!
He and his sevco team recently formed themselves into a Limited Credibility Company. . .but naebody is buyin intae it. . .fur ye see Ali suffers fae ‘truth decay’. He believes that honesty is the best poverty. In Scotland he is an icon . . .Icon! In fact, that’s he and his team’s motto. Of course he is only following in his mentor’s fingerprints.

But Ally is a big softy really. He still has the first fiver he ever embezzled. Long may he last eh!

  • StandAndDeliver says:

Sally’s response is brilliant, blame everyone but himself. Then moan that you need more players because having a 1000 times bigger budget than your nearest rival isn’t enough for him to get a decent result. He always did believe he was funny, but laughing AT, and laughing with are 2 very different things!

  • StandAndDeliver says:

Tony Watt could beat Sevco on his own.
