Morten Rasmussen Celtic newsMorten Rasmussen is expected to complete a £250,000 transfer to FC Midtjylland today.

The striker completed a medical yesterday and is likely to end his unhappy Celtic career by penning a three year deal with the Danish outfit.

FC Midtjylland are currently sitting in mid table after three games of the season with coach Glen Riddersholm looking for Rasmussen to increase their firepower.

Celtic signed Rasmussen, known as Duncan in the Danish media, from Brondby for £1m on the 26th of January 2010 during a frenetic period in Tony Mowbray’s reign.

Within days Robbie Keane and Diamansy Kamara had been signed on loan leaving Rasmusen on the outside looking in despite coming off the bench to score the only goal of the game on his debut at Hamilton.

Rasmussen was a regular substitute as Mowbray made way for Neil Lennon but fell completely out of the picture when the Irishman was given the job on a permanent basis.

Loan spells at Mainz 05, Aalborg and Silvasspor proved unsatisfactory with the Dane going in goals in one match for Sivasspor when their goalkeeper was red carded.

Rasmussen has played for the Celtic Development side in pre-season but looks certain to be the next significant departure from the club.

Daniel Majstorovic, Glenn Loovens, Mark Wilson, Darren O’Dea, Niall McGinn and Efrain Juarez have all left the club with only Fraser Forster joining the club.

Discussing the turnover of players ahead of tonight’s match with HJK Helsinki Lennon said: “We’ve trimmed our wage bill, we’ve made significant cuts, we’ve got five or six senior players who were on good money out the door, and we haven’t added to the squad.

“If we get through this round it’ll make the job of bringing players in a little easier financially. If we get to the Champions League itself it’ll put the club on a sound financial footing for quite a while.”
