Kris Commons Celtic newsCeltic’s 1-1 draw with Ross County has been chosen for extended highlights under the new deal between the SPL and YouTube.

With so much emphasis put on broadcasting during the demise of Rangers the deal with YouTube is seen by many as the SPL giving a trial run to SPL TV which was first considered a decade ago.

UK viewers have been able to watch BBC highlights from 6pm on a Sunday but the new arrangement gives the games worldwide exposure and useful analysis of what is being watched.

Highlights of Celtic’s opening SPL match with Aberdeen has been watched over 13,000 times with the highlights going up before the new deal with the SPL was announced.

By coming up with a partnership between the two organisations the pirates who download then upload highlights are also to an extent being combated.

Most football authorities are forced to spend time getting copyrite material removed with the task never ending with games available worldwide and new piraters constantly appearing.

Yesterday’s match doesn’t make for the most pleasant of viewing for Celtic fans but does perfectly capture the joy and relief of Kris Commons coming up with an injury time equaliser.

From the moment Michael Fraser was unable to hold onto Tony Watt’s shot Commons made sure that the ball was ending up in the net to give Celtic a point ahead of their all important match with Helsingborg on Tuesday.

After the game captain for the day Charlie Mulgrew said: “Maybe a year ago we might have lost that game.

“But we stayed strong and fought to the end and got the point and we were happy with that in the end.

“When you are on the pitch you always believe you will get something and if we had scored earlier we might have went on and won it but we took a point in the end. I think everyone believed and that’s why we got the goal.”
