Is this banner really worth a disciplinary charge?

Green Brigade newsTwo months after the low key pre-season friendly with Norwich City the SFA have decided to hit Celtic with a notice of complaint.

Having ignored chief executive Stewart Regan’s predictions of social unrest and calls of no confidence in Regan the SFA have decided to investigate the tax paying club that is holding their shambolic organisation together.

It’s almost comical that the organisation that turned a blind eye to licensing issues for years then brought out the red carpet for a company that has yet to publish any audited accounts or publish details of their investors should wish to investigate Celtic.

No-one in the stadium made any issue of the banner at the match but it appears that the Compliance Officer of the SFA seems to have got upset while all around the SFA are ignoring their own rules.

A statement from the SFA tonight read: “Disciplinary Rule 26 (Failing to take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to ensure the good conduct and behaviour of Celtic FC supporters at Celtic Park during the above match: by failing to prevent said supporters from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner.)

“Disciplinary Rule 28 (Failing to take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to prevent misbehaviour by spectators at the above match: by failing to prevent spectators from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner.)

“Disciplinary Rule 31 ((i) Failing to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that policies and procedures have been adopted and implemented to prevent instances of Unacceptable Conduct: by failing to prevent spectators at the above match from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner and; (ii) by failing to deal effectively with an instance of Unacceptable Conduct: by allowing spectators to retain possession of said offensive banner after it had been initially displayed, which allowed them to display the banner on a second occasion during the above match.)

“Disciplinary Rule 32 (Failing to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that supporters of Celtic FC did not engage in Unacceptable Conduct at the above match: by failing to prevent said supporters from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner.)”

The irony of being hit with a disrepute charge from the organisation that has employed George Peat, Gordon Smith and Campbell Ogilvie is almost beyond parody.

The UN should investigate us after they investigate all the atrocities in Syria. Mongos

Sevco must be in trouble again! The SFA thinking goes something like this…….We can’t let the Sevco maniacs believe they being victimised, quickly find a random reason to drag Celtic up. That will appease the lunatics for when we charge Sevco, hopefully we won’t need to move homes again and pay for 24 hour personal security for ourselves and our families!

No. But it is not a clever enough banner worth displaying and risking reprimand. I found it refreshing that we could just focus on Celtic and Champions League and positive things and forget about them for a bit. What is the punishment? Accept it and move on. Celtic are champions, Celtic are in the Champions League, Celtic has the greatest supporters in the world.

Will the hun peadophile banner have been reported with then and can we expect to see them having a case to answer for any time soon.

The SFA are going to fine Celtic for the offensive music played at Celtic Park on Wednesday.
The music is called the “Champions League” theme and Sevco are not happy about it!

hunbelievable now they have to charge sevconians every game they have played they have sung sectarian songs or displayed real offensive banners.

  • jocky bhoy says:

Did I find it offensive? No. Did Norwich fans? Doubt it. Am I surprised that the SFA are taking the opportunity to have a pop at Celtic and its fans? Not for a second. The powers that be are desperate to have something to bring Celtic down and this banner gave them it. Whataboutery at its finest.

TBH I don’t think we have a leg to stand on though – if the banner had stuck with the zombie theme – that’s the funny bit – it’d have been fine – the shooting bit wasn’t needed and IMO OTT.

  • AntoniousF says:

Rumour has it the SFA have asked UEFA to investigate Celtic because fans travelled to Lisbon in 1967 without correct travel documentation, and one car wasn’t properly taxed.

They have also asked for Billy McNeill to be brought to book, for not recognising the Mighty Rangers in allowing him to win the big cup.

  • Gypsybhoy says:

An official representative of the Zombie nation following the decision on the Celtic banner has commented by saying “uuunnnhhhh arrrrggggg uuuunnnnhhh”. Unfortunately no translator was available and it is unknown whether the banner was viewed as offensive to Zombies or not by the official spokesperson. Further comments will follow once the jaw of the zombie spokesman has been re-attached.

Several bystanders were said to be “in bits”

  • Joe says:

Someone is hurting in there! Their tactics now are laughable but we knew the anti-Celtic, anti-Catholic brigade were still there. The sfa in their infantile ways will never change until we have a house cleaning.
