Is this banner really worth a disciplinary charge?

Green Brigade newsTwo months after the low key pre-season friendly with Norwich City the SFA have decided to hit Celtic with a notice of complaint.

Having ignored chief executive Stewart Regan’s predictions of social unrest and calls of no confidence in Regan the SFA have decided to investigate the tax paying club that is holding their shambolic organisation together.

It’s almost comical that the organisation that turned a blind eye to licensing issues for years then brought out the red carpet for a company that has yet to publish any audited accounts or publish details of their investors should wish to investigate Celtic.

No-one in the stadium made any issue of the banner at the match but it appears that the Compliance Officer of the SFA seems to have got upset while all around the SFA are ignoring their own rules.

A statement from the SFA tonight read: “Disciplinary Rule 26 (Failing to take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to ensure the good conduct and behaviour of Celtic FC supporters at Celtic Park during the above match: by failing to prevent said supporters from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner.)

“Disciplinary Rule 28 (Failing to take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to prevent misbehaviour by spectators at the above match: by failing to prevent spectators from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner.)

“Disciplinary Rule 31 ((i) Failing to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that policies and procedures have been adopted and implemented to prevent instances of Unacceptable Conduct: by failing to prevent spectators at the above match from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner and; (ii) by failing to deal effectively with an instance of Unacceptable Conduct: by allowing spectators to retain possession of said offensive banner after it had been initially displayed, which allowed them to display the banner on a second occasion during the above match.)

“Disciplinary Rule 32 (Failing to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that supporters of Celtic FC did not engage in Unacceptable Conduct at the above match: by failing to prevent said supporters from bringing into the ground and displaying an offensive banner.)”

The irony of being hit with a disrepute charge from the organisation that has employed George Peat, Gordon Smith and Campbell Ogilvie is almost beyond parody.

Following on from this complaint, we should fully expect The Rangers to be hit with multiple charges for every game they have played from the start of the new season for sectarian chanting and grossly offensive behaviour surely. NOT.

    Dont hold your breath

  • gerrym says:

antoniousf i certainly won’t hold my breath and i couldn’t agree more with you

  • geegsy67 says:

NEVER..one rule for thier co..and a big fat no for us; thier blatantly tellin us that they are still the peepill no surrender and all that ballony and treating celtic like small frys- do a chick green and tell them fxck off; oor banners are sacred and so is oor club glasgow celtic fc 1888.

  • Kenny McCaffrey says:

Pathetic – and great timing eh? Would love to find out exactly when it was deemed ‘offensive’ – and by whom. Go on SFA, tell us.

It just gives the orcs something more to moan about – few of them probably knew anything about it until tonight. SFA – Stupid Feckless A-holes.

Still think the banner’s hilarious though…

  • Dougie says:

The only ones who could possibly be offended would be the zombies referred to in the banner and we all know zombies have no feelings!! About time for someone to grow a pair and tell them to get stuffed!!

  • paranoidandroid says:

I hope Celtic are going to contest this stupidity. A good lawyer would tear this to pieces.

His first question would be, “What exactly do you find offensive about this banner? Why do you find it offensive for someone to shoot a zombie? Zombies are already dead, don’t you know?”

His second question might well be, “Why are all you people so stupid?” But I doubt that, unfortunately.

  • Mik says:

Celtic will piss all over this. and site a million cases showing how ridiculous this charge is. but something really has to be done to release Scottish football from this insideous organisation

  • neil says:

The SFA knew that Rangers where running double contracts, decommission that ya Zombies

  • A Lone Wolfe's Tones says:

Jeezo, our joke of a national association knows no bounds. I agree with the above points, a good lawyer would show them what a joke these charges are. ‘Offensive Banner’ Offensive to whom? Zombies! Is anyone related to, acquainted with or have any knowledge of zombies in their daily lives. No, shockeroony, me neither. How can it be possible to be offensive to a mythical character? and where do we stand on Dragons, Trolls, Peter Pans, Fairies and such like? There is no names attached to the banner in reference to anyone. A charge based on presumption has no grounds!

    • A Lone Wolfe's Tones says:

Woops, after ranting i just noticed the hun crest on the headstone.

      • Neil says:

Now a Zombie crest mate as they are DEED!so no offence should be taken unless SFA are happy that we are mocking the dead lol
        Couldnae make it up!

  • Joe says:

Further evidence that many in the infantile sfa are really hurting with their establishment club going under due to unprecedented corruption.

  • Monty Burns says:

It’s obviously a pathetic attempt at balancing the books because Sevco are repeatedly claiming that they’re being “picked on”. So in the SFA’s mind making a stooshie about this banner proves that they’re being fair and honest to all …..Yeah, right!

  • eric says:

True red tops pure garb, Trying to deflect attention
from the real argument.A lot to be said for salt & vinegar. Hail Hail

  • Buffythecat says:

This bit of SFA nonsense has Campbell Ogilvie’s name all over it.

”Lets get something on Celtic to show that we are still best of friends with the sevco franchise. Let’s see. . .what can we pin on them? Iv’e got it . . .that banner that they displayed in 1888. Didn’t it have the Irish harp crest on it? I think it did and it was at a time when it was illegal to display things Irish. RIGHT! let’s get them in for daring to be Irish and Catholic and Celtic and feeding the poor and not bowing down to our queen and country.

What’s that your saying? . . .sevco have been shaming Scottish football again by singing sectarian songs. Telling the world that many football clubs will not be welcome at Ibrox for daring to vote out corruption. Charles Green has been telling the SFA to ‘f-off’ again and has accused the other football clubs of being bigots. That rangers haven’t paid their tax’s or other debts to thousands of businesses and other football clubs. . .

Never mind all that let’s get Celtic that wee headstone with a rangers crest on it really has brought the game into disrepute eh!”

    Farcical…and they know it.

  • eric says:

Red tops, What is it. What really happened ??? Celtic continue to pay their taxes & obide by the rule of law/land & Are still censored. The right wing Press G’bye Hello Social media. Hail Hail

  • seaney67 says:

With the sad passing of paul mc’bride QC.its more important than ever that celtic football club attain the services of some one in the legal proffession just as capable.when it comes to defending us.because this hipocracy won’t end any time soon.neither will those with the hidden agenda’s and hidden aligencie’s go away.unless confronted

  • what can be said in our little sectarian country is nothing to what is allowed in England which is Truth.last week on T.V.the Liverpool support displayed a banner that the authority have not took issue with. “Yorkshire police murderers” question? WHY.

  • GWG says:

It was reported this week that the last three away games by Sevco were blighted by sectarian singing “offensive banners” and two instances of throwing flares causing damage to the plastic playing pitch at Annan.
Will the so called Compliance Officer be looking at the contamination of the 3rd division by the bigoted and lawless hordes of Sevco FC

    • StandAndDeliver says:

They already are looking into it, they have to, that is exactly why they have tried to make up this pathetic excuse to drag us up. The SFA really are such a bunch of dumb, cowardly, morons.

  • lone wolf dinae need to worry, they dinae excist.

  • eric says:

Old saying? Let the huns keep digging (singing) &
@ sometime it will come up & bite them in the arss. We TIMS are being stirred by The red tops & the right wing media. Let us not Equate ourselves with their BIGOTRY & self indulgence. We TIMS ARE FAR BETTER THAN THAT. Stay positive let us milk our success For the next millenia. Hail Hail

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

    First up….
An offensive banner is an offensive banner…
So…Let’s not play their game…We should be above that…..
However….Does it merit this course of action…?
Of course it doesn’t if you take into account the way they behave and the filth they continue to sing….
The people “in charge” need to watch what they’re doing here…
    We shouldn’t accept this crap.
