Charles Green newsThe SFA have hit Charles Green with a double charge of bringing the game into direspute by claiming that the Commission in to dual contracts by Rangers, chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith, had already been pre-determined by the SPL.

Green was censured by the SFA recently for claiming that the decision to refuse Sevco an SPL place was based on ignorance.

The new charge is for comments made regarding the integrity of the commission, chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith, which will investigate the Ibrox club’s use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs).

Ahead of a two day procedural hearing into the issue the Sevco mouthpiece announced that he wouldn’t attend any hearing since the outcome had been pre-determined by the SPL.

Green claimed: “The Rangers Football Club Limited will not attend tomorrow’s ‘earing (Tuesday, September 11) of the SPL-appointed Commission investigating the circumstances surrounding the use of Employee Benefit Trusts by previous owners of the Club.

“The Club cannot continue to participate in an SPL process that we believe is fundamentally misconceived.

“Neither the SPL, nor its Commission, has any legal power or authority over the Club because it is not in the SPL.

“For that reason it has no legal basis on which to appoint its Commission. The Club ceased to be subject to the SPL’s rules when it was ejected from its league.

“Our lawyers have made that point repeatedly to the SPL in correspondence and yet our requests for an explanation from the SPL have been completely ignored. The SPL’s silence on these issues is deafening. The outcome of the SPL’s process will have no legal effect.”

Green has been charged under Disciplinary Rules 66 and 71 and has until Monday to respond to the charge.

Following that outburst Green attempted to muddy the waters by claiming at least two SPL clubs also paid their players using EBT’s.

Paying by EBT isn’t the issue between the SPL and Rangers, the investigation is into undeclared payments made to players.

The issue of how Rangers used the EBT scheme is subject to a First Tier Tribunal from HMRC with the verdict expected next month.

Green’s claims have been loyally followed up his favoured cheerleaders with the spotlight turned on the SFA and SPL who continued to licence Rangers despite being alerted by HMRC about the issue of secondary contracts.

    First?

I love how this clown just digs deeper and the peepul hang on to his every word. They’ve found a soul mate in Chuck Green. Sad they can’t see that he’s doing all he can to get booted from the league as he realises they’re unlikely to walk it this season.

When will the Bears see this clown for what he is..?
Honestly..if he was representing us in these circumstances…I would be totally ashamed.
I agree with earlier post ‘though…
He’s in it for the ££££’s…so long may he continue to bring “publicity” to the Manky Mob.

Of course he is. He wants to have an excuse to walk away like all of the others who claimed “we don’t do walking away”.

He isn’t as daft as you think he is. he wants it to look like they are the victims.

  • Willie Aitkenhead says:

Why do they still want to claim another clubs titles (even badly tainted ones) if they have nothing to do with the SPL.

Tough cheese Chico, you agreed to possible sanctions in order to obtain a temporary licence. Quite who he would accept as the investigating panel as being impartial is beyond me if he doesn’t think these eminent people are above reproach.
