John Kennedy wants Celtic’s youth side to take out their Next Gen Series frustrations on Aberdeen tomorrow.
Celtic face the Dons at Brechin tomorrow, kick-off 3pm, looking to extend their domestic four match winning run on the back of a 2-1 reverse at Aston Villa in the Next Gen Series.
Villa were 2-0 up at half-time with Celtic unable to claim a point despite being thrown a lifeline when Jackson Irvine netted.
“We’ve started slowly in both Next Gen matches and that makes life difficult,” Kennedy admitted. “The second half had positives and we have to take them into the match with Aberdeen.
“It was frustrating and disappointing at Villa. We know that we have a good squad of players capable of competing and winning at that level. We were on the back foot in the first half and never showed enough belief.
“In the second half there was a total turnaround. We know that we have it but we have to make sure that we show our ability for 90 minutes rather than 45.”
Kennedy added: “I saw Aberdeen beat Dundee last week and they are a good side. They dominated the match and deserved their victory.
“This will be as tough a game as we’ve had in the league this season, they look to be an improved side from last season.
“We’ve got a 100% record in the league and that gives us lots of motivation. We want to win every game and play in a certain style getting results.
“Celtic’s first team are expected to win every game and we have to do the same at our level while putting in good performances.
“We’ve got seven players away with the Scotland u-17 side so we’ll be using a few players from the development squad.
“The players know what is expected, they know the standards and we’ll be looking to maintain our 100% record against Aberdeen.”
