James Forrest appears as hungry as any Celtic player to get his hands on the SPFL Premiership trophy.
The winger enjoyed that special feeling for the first time in 2012 when Rugby Park hosted a title party as Neil Lennon’s side put down a marker for a spell of incredible dominance.
Forrest is the only survivor from the side, most of his team-mates from that day have now retired such as Charlie Mulgrew who was on duty for Sky Sports at Dundee yesterday.
Starting his first match since November Forrest wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to nail down a place, firing Celtic into a first half lead with a brilliant hook shot from a Kyogo Furuhashi lay-off.
His second goal was less spectacular but every bit as welcome, coming in the 64th minute on the back of some Dundee pressure.
As two home defenders almost wiped each other out Forrest took a step back, enjoyed the break of the ball then tucked his shot under Jon McCracken to double Celtic’s lead.
Daizen Maeda should be in contention for a place on Saturday against Hearts leaving Rodgers with a big selection decision with the 32-year-old veteran his in-form winger.
Play Jamesy on the right if Maeda is fit.
If he keeps going like this Clarke will be taking him to Germany in the summer to bolster his shot-shy front line.
