Week after week Celtic fans watch goalkeepers escape scot-free as they indulge in ‘game management’ against Celtic.
Every goal kick is taken from the opposite side from where the ball goes out, every last player has to be in their exact position before the ball is released with a whole range of other time wasting measures fully indulged.
At a push they will get a shot from the match referee, perhaps the referee will point to their watch with the suggestion that time will be added on.
In the first half at Celtic Park one or two minutes will be added, wholly disproportionate, in the second half with substitutes being used stoppage time might stretch to three or four minutes with goalkeepers rarely booked.
Beaton regularly watches goalkeepers openly waste time from first half kick off at Celtic Park and never pulls them up for it or gestures that he will add time on. Today is the first time I have seen him take action over time wasting! ?

Deep into stoppage time yesterday John Beaton booked for Joe Hart for time wasting, it was deserved but it was no more than every goalkeeper routinely does against Celtic. With no cards issued.
Liam Kelly of Motherwell has developed it into an art form, something to do with coming through the ranks at Murray Park but being unable to make a single top team appearance for the club he loves.
On November 25 Kelly was up to all his usual tricks before picking the ball out of the net to an 86th minute penalty prompted by VAR.
No card was produced by Beaton who was taking charge of his third Celtic match of the season.
At Dens Park there appeared to be no warning given to Hart over time wasting, with Celtic in touching distance of full points the scowl was out as Beaton issued a long distance yellow card.
On VAR duty at Tynecastle and as referee at Ibrox Beaton has been directly involved in Celtic losing five points, yesterday his influence was less obvious.
Just like at Ibrox no yellow cards were shown to Celtic’s opponents, opposing managers know that their players can go the extra mile against Celtic when Beaton is in charge.
Joe Hart has been sent off once this season and picked up one booking. Beaton was the referee that sent him off at Livingston in September.

Exactly, happens 10-12 times a game at Parkhead but at Parkhead his M.O. is to stand with his back to the keeper so he can’t see it happening pic.twitter.com/5R5ugsIMLD

Joe hart the only keeper in Scotland to be booked for time wasting this season. Every single club including the new club waste time from the first minute when they play us. Not seen a card given all season.

Motherwell at Parkhead particularly bad. John Beaton ref’d it that day.

Cheating Beaton will fluctuate between our own games and sevco’s ganes fir the 4gamnes if the season.
I watched sevco V Kilmarnock a few months ago Beaton I’m sure was referee booked a killie player for time wasting at a shy a few minutes before half time. I’m sure it was the game that sevco scored 2 just after the booking and the one of the goals there was a clear foul in the build up but Cheaton must have missed it as VAR did as well! ?
St mirren game at Celtic park midweek this season was particularly bad and surprisingly beaton was the referee!
Talking about certain selective tactics ! As a little aside to yesterday’s St Mirren v theRangers game . The Sky commentator – Rory Hamilton apologised profusely about any ‘ bad language ‘ being picked up from the Paisley stands by the SS microphones , ie the ‘F’ and ‘ C’ words ! Wholeheartedly apologised for swearing ! Yet on at least 2 occasions during said match , the chorus of the ‘ Billy Boys ‘ with the charming lyric ‘ up to our knees in fenian blood ‘ being sung , never got a whisper or syllable of disgust ,or apologies from anyone associated with or from Sky Sports ? In other words ,a ‘ hate crime ‘ song is absolutely fine and acceptable as far as Sky Sports is concerned but swearing is totally taboo ? If that is not being ‘ selective ‘ ,I don’t know what else to say ? Ah ,wee Bonnie Scotland !
