Paul Lambert newsNorwich chairman Alan Bowkett has told a fans forum that Paul Lambert has issued a £2m claim against the club.

Lambert departed from Carrow Road during the summer and was instantly installed as manager of Aston Villa.

His departure after three successful seasons caused a lot of ill feeling with claim and counter claim between both parties after Norwich refused Lambert permission to speak to Villa.

Yesterday at a supporters meeting at Carrow Road Bowkett told a gathering of 130 fans more details about the situation.

Bowkett said Lambert was seeking between £1.5m and £2m with neither Lambert or Villa prepared to comment.

The Norwich chairman said he was disappointed with the way Lambert left the club, taking over at Villa on 2 June. Lambert spent three years at the club and guided them to back-to-back promotions from League One before finishing 12th in last season’s Premier League.

Shortly after moving to Aston Villa he said: “I will always be proud of what we have done as a group – it is a part of my life that will stay with me and I will never forget it.

“I have nothing but praise for Norwich. The fanbase was always pivotal to what happened.

“I had my reasons [for leaving], which will probably remain private and I don’t want to keep going back to that.”

Lambert’s last competitive match in charge of Norwich was at home to Villa in May with the two clubs meeting at Villa Park on October 27.
