Champions League Celtic newsCharles Green has told the Daily Record that he’s staying at Ibrox till the Champions League anthem is blaring over the club PA.

With storm clouds gathering on the back of Craig Whyte’s return to the spotlight and allegations flying about the conduct of Duff & Phelps Green has kept quiet for almost a full week.

Celtic’s display in the Nou Camp has tugged at the heart strings of the Yorkshireman who is dreaming of welcoming the biggest clubs in Europe to Ibrox.

A number of hurdles will have to be overcome with the major obstacle being UEFA’s requirement that new clubs must have three years of audited accounts before competing in their competitions.

While the SFA were happy to ignore their own rules to give Sevco membership Green would have to wait until the 2017/18 season to play in Europe assuming they have worked their way back to winning the SPL

“My intention was to come in to the club, get the funding in place, make sure Rangers’ future was secured and then leave,” Green told his friends at the Record.

“That was my job but now I’m staying until I hear that Champions League anthem blaring out once again across Ibrox. That’s what the fans and the people here should be given and if that can be delivered maybe I’ll feel my job is complete.

“Playing in the Champions League is the pinnacle and with the correct structures in place there is every reason to believe Rangers can return to that arena. We have plans to move this club forward and I know we, with the fans, can make it great again. That’s the objective now so I won’t be leaving here in a hurry.

“I could say my initial job is all but done but there’s a bigger challenge ahead now and I’m not going until the Rangers fans hear that music blaring out inside their own stadium. That’s the night I will know we have achieved something special.”

And did anyone from the Daily Ranger challenge him on the statement that as long as he’s in charge TRFC WONT play in the SPL? No…didn’t think so. More twists and turns than a twisty turny thing!! How can these ppl get away with continually contradicting themselves?

  • Bertie says:

So instead of a quick buck, Chuckles is going for the longer, slower money grab.

More garbage from the mega mouth…maybe it’s not dawned him yet that the share deal won’t even get the chance to fail.

As they have never been in the SPL, how can they have heard the CL Anthem blaring out the tannoy…deluded or what.

Better to stay quiet and let people think you are stupid Chico, than open your big gob and confirm it.

So is Chuckie planning on qualifying for the CL or is he just going to play the tune the next time they play Stirling Albion?

You’ve got to ask these questions when Chuckie and co are involved.

    What a total zoomer

Charles Green & his fantasy football!

MSM are in a precarious spot at the minute. Do they back the possible share issue and see their constituents shafted or issue bargpole warnings and see sevco go belly up?

Is it just me or are they now going soft on MBB who is now receiving a neutral press subsequent to tape-gate?

Safest assumption for anyone who has dealt with our hero would be that ALL conversations have been recorded.

Whyte may just have played a blinder.
D&P in court next week must be very circumspect or risk perjury. Good chance they’re in deep doodoo anyway.

(S)DM next in firing line as FTT will be public within a week.

Share issue under real threat now leaving Green financially exposed. His numbers don’t add up & I’m not talking attendances which at least were only out by around 10,000!

If BDO have the mettle to wade in this will get very messy. The prospect of Whytes lawyers already citing D&P’s Grier to appear on their behalf in court should legal action be taken is delicious irony.

Its the pantomime season, stock up on your popcorn the show is about to begin.

Only problem is finding a good guy to shout ‘he’s behind you’ as the crowd of bad guys enter stage left!

  • Shamrock hoops says:

We can all assume then that Chuckie will be hanging around the south side for a very, very long time 🙂

Another example of people who originate from outside scotland trying to court popularity with the rangers support by portraing themselves as one of them, which you really should be trying to avoid if he had anything about himself. We can all remember amoruso, albertz, cannigia etc. trying to be the all embracing spitting feathers orangeman in a rangers jersey. The only people of any note and decency were boli and negri who had a conscience that wouldnt let them be coercied into such embarassing behaviour.
