Craig Whyte RangersCraig Whyte has repeated his claim that he introduced Charles Green to Duff & Phelps.

The former Rangers owner first made the claim last week during a confessional interview with the BBC.

That brought a qualified denial from Green who is concerned that being linked to Whyte will damage his popularity among supporters and his prospects of a successful share issue.

Whyte’s return to the spotlight couldn’t be timed any worse for Green with the former billionaire providing more detail of his links with the current ownership of the Ibrox club in an interview with Bill McMurdo Junior.

Following up last weeks claims Whyte stated: “What I actually said is that I went out and found a buyer as D & P had failed to do that.

“My colleague in London contacted Imran who then introduced me to Charles at the beginning of May. I introduced Charles to Paul Clark in Hakkasan in London.”

Interestingly Whyte was earlier questioned about his relationship with members of Zeus Capital stating : “I have known Imran Ahmad for several years but other than that, none.”

Earlier today Green was forced into making a statement to clairify comments that he had made in an interview in The Sun.

Discussing his early days attempting to rescue Rangers Green revealed that some fans had made threats to him that were being treated seriously by Strathclyde Police. Green also claimed that he had to regularly move hotel in order to safeguard his security.

With the ghost of Whyte back on the horizon Green will be very wary that one more PR mistake could have a devastating effect on his share issue although no prospectus has yet to be published.
