Hearts have been given a stay of execution by HMRC after facing a winding up order for £449,692.04.

A winding up order was in place for Thursday but after putting out a rallying cry to supporters the Gorgie side have been given until December 3 to settle the bill as well as making the correct November and December payments.

Announcing today’s deal with HMRC  Tynecastle director Sergejus Fedotovas said: “Make no mistake, the fans and players have been instrumental in achieving this extension with HMRC.

The supporters’ efforts have been quite phenomenal. However, it is essential that they continue all their work to assist us in meeting financial targets at the club.

It is imperative that they continue with this level of backing in the weeks ahead until the Share Issue closes on December 19.”

Sergejus added: “We are pleased that we have been granted this extension as it acknowledges the strenuous efforts that are going on to ensure this club continues to contribute to employment, society, community and football in Scotland.

I also want to acknowledge the support received from political and supporter groups. Their direct action is helping the club through a very important period.

We have a lot of hard work ahead of us in order to fully rectify our financial position but with further backing and ongoing fundraising by supporters we know that we have a very positive opportunity to create a strong club for the future.”

Strange HMRC fail to give them more time. Can’t remember them being so quick with the buns?

  • Tully says:

Close them down and let them fester with their knuckle dragging six fingered cousins in the 3rd division.

I despise Hearts but you have to say their fans have responded so much better than the Rangers (til I die) fans did. Whilst I have no time for their fans you can’t take away the fact that the Jambo’s have loyal fans to the core. That I have to admire regardless of my feelings towards the Orc hybrids.

What I can’t understand is that knowing how perilous Sevco’s position is they allowed Templeton to go with part of the fee still outstanding. Surely any club once bitten would ask for payment in full, especially as Sevco (Bad gers) were desperate.
