World Cup 2014 newsNeil Lennon has questioned the value of this weeks international card.

The Celtic boss will see his squad scattered around the globe before returning for Saturday’s noon kick-off away to Aberdeen.

A friendly between Nigeria and Venezuela in Miama featuring Miku and Efe Ambrose is an obvious concern for the hoops boss with managerless Scotland’s trip to Luxembourg of dubious value.

Victor Wanyama will be in the Kenya squad that travels to Tanzania on Wednesday.

“I really don’t see the point of this one,” Lennon admitted. “It’s just off the back of a double-header last month.

“What are coaches going to find out about their players that they didn’t know last month?

“I will be ringing managers up to say: ‘look, give my boys a rest here because we have another really heavy schedule coming up’.

“I’ll be ringing around a few managers to say: ‘is it really necessary to take these players with you?'”

“There’s a few of them carrying knocks. I want them to have some rest now.

“We have had such a heavy schedule since the last international break and even before that it was heavy. We’re in four competitions so that takes its toll.”

Joe Ledley and Adam Matthews will travel to Cardiff for a get together arranged by Chris Coleman, Georgios Samaras will be in Dublin for the Ireland v Greece friendly, Beram Kayal has been selected for Israel’s match with Belarus while Mikael Lustig is in the Sweden squad to play England.

At u-21 level Tony Watt, Marcus Fraser and Stuart Findlay have been selected for the Scotland u-21 side that travels to Portugal.
