Bhoys face Bairns at Lennoxtown

|

Steve Frail Celtic newsCeltic’s u-20 side will block out thoughts of Barcelona when they meet Falkirk at Lennoxtown today, kick-off 2pm.

Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s side has been chopping and changing in recent weeks due to international commitments and injuries.

While Celtic face Falkirk, Jackson Irvine will be preparing to play Syria for Australia in the Asian Cup Finals in Dubai with consistency of selection almost impossible at u-20 level.

Celtic got back to winning ways last Monday thanks to an opportunist strike from Jack Kirwan with Frail keen to build on that result.

“The players have been looking good in training, working really hard and we’re looking forward to this match,” the hoops coach said.

“Falkirk like to pass the ball around and will make it tough for us. We demand high standards from our players, last week we ground out a result against Dunfermline without being at our best.

“You’re never going to get them all at their best at the same time but that’s what we strive for at this club.

“Jack Kirwan took his goal well last week and it’s pleasing when a substitute makes an impact. He’s strong at running behind defences and showed that with his goal.”

Celtic are currently sitting in second place in the u-20 league, two points behind leaders Dundee United with two games in hand.

Falkirk, one of four SFL sides invited to join the division due to the strength of their youth programme, have picked up 11 points from nine matches, drawing 0-0 away to third placed Aberdeen in their last outing.
