Steve Frail Celtic newsStevie Frail was delighted by the goal that gave Celtic a 1-0 win over Dunfermline on Monday.

After 70 goal-less minutes the visitors were looking good for a point when Celtic got a free-kick 28 yards from goal.

Bahrudin Atajic looked in the mood to try a shot but sensing a little bit of space and the movement of Jack Kirwan he played a short free kick into the box with the substitute burying the ball into the net for his first goal of the season.

“We ground the result out,” Frail admitted. “Dunfermline were difficult to break down but we never passed the ball quickly enough.

“It went from side to side, we were looking for more penetrating passes and there wasn’t much of that. We managed it from a set-piece, scoring a good goal but we can play a lot better.

“We work a lot on set-pieces, you can see that in our performances. Sometimes it’s best to just get the ball into the box, Bahrudin and Jack worked well and got their reward.

“Both players deserve credit for seeing the opportunity and executing it. We wanted Jack to be a threat and he gave us that, he won a few headers and made took his chance well.

“We want to move the ball fast, look for the penetrating pass. Rabui (Ibrahim) started to find the ball in good areas and Bahrudin began to create space and openings for those passes.”

On Tuesday Celtic face Falkirk at Lennoxtown in the u-20 league, kick-off 2pm.
