SFA opt out of dealing with Tannadice boycott

Scottish Cup newsThe SFA are on a collision course with Dundee United after backing down from taking action against Charles Green’s decision to boycott the match.

Under SFA rules gate money from cup ties is split 60-40 in favour of the home club with Rangers due their take of the money despite officially boycotting the sale of tickets.

Green claimed that United were among certain SPL clubs actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers during the summer as he explained his decision to refuse tickets.

The SFA will now expect United to agree ticket prices for a match in which they will be forced to hand over money to a club who have announced that they won’t sell any tickets.

If no agreement can be reached on pricing the SFA will be forced to set ticket pricing which will effectively set up a donation to the Third Division club from Dundee United fans.

Shortly after the draw was made Green told the Rangers website: “This is a unanimous decision by the board, senior management and staff at Ibrox.

“Everyone at this club is dismayed at the actions of certain SPL clubs, which were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers when we were in a perilous situation and we are acutely aware of their attitude to us.

“Not all clubs who voted against Rangers returning to the SPL fall into that category and indeed we made Motherwell very welcome when we played them at Ibrox in the League Cup competition recently.

“However, feelings remain very raw and it should be no surprise that we as a club feel this way.

“It is unsurprising too that there has been a reaction from our supporters to this particular fixture.

“The last thing we as a club want to do is to compromise security arrangements for any match.

“I therefore appeal to all fans not to travel to this match and to Dundee United not to sell tickets to Rangers supporters.”

As well as splitting ticket money teams competing in cup ties are expected to co-operate in promoting fixtures with sponsors and television companies with Sky Sports showing live coverage of the game from Tannadice.

Utd fans should boycott the match too then hand in the money they would otherwise have paid for tickets and merchandise to Utd tax free. Utd then would not need to hand a penny over to Sevco.

Utd win, Sevco and it’s disgusting fans lose.

  • paranoidandroid says:

A few days ago, we had Montose having to apologise to Green for telling the truth in their match programme about the newco, sevco.

Now sevco’s fans are going to boycott a game, with Green’s blessing, and his club’s still going to get its share of the match fees. Like the artical said, it’s practically a charitable donation to sevco.

Green’s making a mockery of fotball in this country, just to fill his own pockets, and the SFA are too weak, compromised, deluded, and corrupt to do anything about it.

Ultimately, I’d like to see the SFA shredded and built-up again from scratch. But until something changes the current SFA men of straw better wake up soon, and grow a pair, before the game in this country loses its last shred of credibility.

  • Agent whyte says:

DU should point blank refuse to hand over ANY money to that disgrace of a football club. If anything donate the 40% to a charity of their choice. I’m sure almost all other Scottish clubs would back them..

  • Williebhoy says:

Dundee Utd should simply price the game at the lowest possible they can get away with, I assume the SFA have something in place to agree set prices. As the money is going to charity, I’d ask Chico to nomninate the charity ahead of the game and for Dundee Utd to ensure that ALL monies raised are sent direct by THEM to the specified charity.

Programmes should be increased to ensure that those who do attend can then give the funds saved directly to the club. A chance for the club to pack out the ground to support their own club, raising their chances of qualification.

Money will also be saved on policing, resulting in more profit for United with no away fans they will need far less to segregate fans.

  • c pate says:

You forgot to mention that the donation will effectively be to charity oh and by the way will you please stop calling us RANGERS its sevco

  • sands1888 says:

Its disgusting, ive actually just email stephen thomson telling him how disgusted i am with itm and asked him to think about only making tickets available for free by buying a £20ish match programme, or free again by making a donation to uniteds youth acadamy, give them nothing not a penny, starve them out

    • barcabuster says:

I share your disgust sands, and think the programme idea a perfect loop hole to deprive this abhorrant mob of any funding. Why should Dun U help replace the previous unpaid charity money of Oldco! I would go even further, and reccommend that ALL SPL clubs refuse an allocation of tickets to Sevco, AND, if and when, the time comes, refuse them entry to the SPL..As for the SFA…..We need a new one!

      • sands1888 says:

Thats a great idea and would love to see it happen. Nationwide boycott of ipox, and hampden for that matter

  • sands1888 says:

On a lighter note, does anyone know where i can send a christmas card to the celtic player of the year craig whyte? haha

  • KevinBarry says:

The lowest they can make tickets are £7-£8. They can’t even let their own fans in for free. I just hope they get thru the next round of the cup and get us at parkhead. We’ll see if there is a boycott of the mighty Glasgow Celtic. We would take about 8 off that shower of shite

    • KevinBarry says:

I mean the Huns thru to next round

    • thomas cochrane says:

kevin you call yourself a tim ……you make me fekn boak…..wantin that mob to win,I dont want that mob anywhere near paradise EVER….never thought i would ever a tim say they wanted the scum to win ffs………im off before i say summat i may regret……mon the hoops…..hh…..gbnl…..down with sevco…

  • Joe says:

It is quite incredible that a 141 day old club controls the sfa like this.

  • Dhougal says:

It seems the two clubs they intend boycotting are D.Utd &Hibs . Mmmmm wonder why those two ???

  • pj44 says:

Dundee Utd the ball is in your court,if the s.f.a.will do nothing to resolve this fiasco then i suggest you put pressure on the sponsers to bring their weight to bear.If all that fails then assemble all your fans at stadium to plan a boycott and pay a donation to cover your loss of revenue, thus ensuring the rabid mob receive nothing.

  • Scott Mackenzie says:

more disgracfull acts from the sfa, however as i see it changing the grossly incompetent sfa is not going to happen. Its clear sevco fc either has them over a barrel with something they don’y want made public or the sfa are simply sevco fans. either way i think celtic should simply remove themselves from this league sorting the problem once and for all. leave the bigots to their bigotry while we thrive in a just and fair league.

  • The Tax Man says:

Meanwhile, Sevco just dig themselves deeper and deeper into the unpopularity stakes of their own country, not to mention the rest of the watching world. Well done Chucky.

  • RyanM says:

Should sell tickets for £1 with a £14 match-day programme or else £20 a ticket.

  • bhoy67 says:

D.U.fans must boycott this game. With it being live on Sky an opportunity presents itself to have sfa under scrutiny as to why its flagship tournament is being played at an empty stadium!i’d even buy a £20 match programme to compensate the Arabs.

  • Williebhoy says:

Certainly wouldn’t go down well with TV / Sponsors if Dundee Utd told the SFA they wouldn’t be selling tickets as they recommend their own fans should also boycott……see who blinks first

    • barcabuster says:

Aye, playing behind closed doors would certainly highlight the nasty vileness of the zombie mob, but Dun .U. would be giving up their home advantage. Another thing is, they could beat the hun 6-0, but they hun would say THEY won 3-1, and accuse the cameras of lying! No doubt the ref would back them up.

  • Patrick.mcnamee says:

Utd should just tell their own fans to boycott the game I am sure they would rather do that than hand money to sevco and the mad hatter green . The sfa should also grow a pair of balls and bring green in front of them for bringing the game into disrepute as he is just making them look like spineless tossers !

  • CarlisleCelt says:

Wish someone had a pair this is getting ridiculous, these scvmbags appear to be able to do as the like with impunity.

  • Ed Dunne says:

In view of the fact that the SFA will not stand up to Charles Green and the fact that the MSM regurgitate every utterance as truth I see only one way forward for Scottish Football. Firstly. It is the responsibility of EVERY chairman in the SPL to show solidarity with S Thomson at Dundee Utd. Your club could be next on the hitlist.

The Chairmen of all SPL Clubs must start to challenge Mr Green each and every time he makes false statements in the press. A simple ‘He is not quite telling the truth’ would suffice. Force the MSM to print an alternative view. Dont be shy when challenging the acts or statements from Sevco as you have the full 100% backing of your fans. We are all sick to death of the inaction of the SFA so maybe when we get chairmen of other clubs standing up against lies and untruths we can force the hand of the SFA. Seek to confront Charles Green for his statements and actions and the SFA will have to get involved. Once again the future of our game lies in the hands of the fans. Ensure that your Chairman knows that you want them to challenge Sevco when necessary and we can draw out a reaction from the governing body. Only then will we get to the bottom of, and rid the country of, the corruption that has infested our game for decades.
