Paul Murray Rangers news

James ‘succulent lamb’ Traynor has signed off with his final opinion piece at the Daily Record decrying the declining standards in journalism.

After almost 15 years at the Daily Record Traynor has opted out as the old guard face increasing competitionand scrutiny from new media.

Traynor, or Jabba as he’s known online, has never hidden his contempt for new media and signed off with an attack on the award winning Rangers Tax Case as he closed the door on his career at the Record.

In his Herald days the one-time Airdrieonions s-form signing came to prominence with a mixture of wit and dry humour with his annual fortnight at Wimbledon always readable.

His time at the Record will be best remembered for his sterling service to David Murray including the succulent lamb quote used to celebrate Murray’s tenth anniversary in control of Rangers.

Despite the obvious problems at Ibrox Traynor’s support never wavered with Craig Whyte given the red carpet treatment at the Record with the Rangers support largely falling for the spin proclaiming the wonders of the Motherwell born billionaire.

Traynor’s increasingly antagonistic style is all over his farewell column stating: “Unfortunately, there has been the last twisted and bitter year during which Scottish football, unable to deal with the Rangers crisis in a civilised manner, has tried to tear itself apart. All in the name of sporting integrity, of course.

Actually, for the last couple of years some of the most bilious types have been allowed to emerge from the shadows and spew invective that sadly became regarded as fact, even though what they were saying and writing wasn’t even close to being definitive. Or honest. Overnight all sorts of anonymous bloggers became experts. These champions of decency had all the answers. They knew better than anyone else. They said over and over Rangers would be done for cheating the tax man.”

He added: “Even now so many – and I include some fellow journalists – still cannot bring themselves to accept Rangers did not cheat the tax man by using EBTs. One journalist declared it to be “a government conspiracy” when he heard the ruling in Rangers’ favour.

“Im so sorry they’ve had to be thrown up into the same piece as some of the true greats and gentlemen of world sport.

However, that’s it. My work here is done and I’m glad – but just for the record, I’ve not been sacked or made redundant. I was asked to remain but my conscience won’t allow me to stay in our profession.

The journalism needed by the country, never mind sport, no longer exists in enough of the other media outlets.

But as I’ve said, the good memories of all those sporting greats will always outweigh the negatives, especially those that bubbled to the surface throughout this last year.”

Stick it in the toilet with the rest of his journalistic garbage – might even come in useful.

I’d call him a bellend but I don’t want to insult bellends.

    Gone & forgotten

Traynor and his minions @ Scotland’s National Newspaper IMHO…… WAS responsible for much of the hate and bigotry that exists in the corrupt and sectarian country, from Dallas to “The Big Jock Crew” the Thieves headlines not to mention the despicable piece he wrote about the “Famine Song” also the jibes he wrote that Irish people should “LEAVE” the country if they dont like it, even though many of these people were born and bread in Scotland. Traynor was / IS a disgrace to the word journalism I cant remember ever reading anything positive he had to say about Celtic or indeed the supporters. I’ve no doubt that his “English” boss’s had enough of his divide & jibe style of journalism, a style of writing for saw the Record become the most despised newspaper in the country with thousands and thousands of Celtic AND neutral football supporters bin the rag and like myself looking to the internet for the TRUTH behind the crap they published. When many of us knew the big trouble that Rangers were in Traynor and his ilk refused to publish the FACTS!! it was only when other media outlets began to “look” that Traynor and his lot were forced to acknowledge the going-ons at Ibrox.
For every front page non story they printed about Celtic an equally type of story involving Rangers was buried deep inside the rag!!
For me I hope Traynor never gets to spout his bile and half-truths / Lies in any other media outlet again…. I DONT wish him well~~~ GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

    Internet Bampots 1 Traynor 0…..

Bilious twisted and bitter. Condemned by his own words. These adjectives sum Jabba up perfectly, and the sad thing for him is he doesn’t see the irony.
Journalism and hopefully sport are well shot of this creature, surely the Prince of Toadies.
