John Kennedy Celtic newsCeltic’s u-20 side face their first domestic match in a month when they take on St Mirren tonight at 7pm.

The trip to New St Mirren Park gives John Kennedy’s side the chance to end the year on a high with just one defeat, at home to St Johnstone, blotting their copybook.

Celtic are currently sitting in second place in the table, three points behind leaders Dundee United but with three games in hand as they aim to be crowned youth champions for the fourth season running.

“It’s been a bit frustrating not being able to get a game in recently but the signs are good and we’re looking forward to getting back into action against St Mirren,” Kennedy stated.

“We’ve not had a match since the Next Gen game away to PSV Eindhoven but that’s given the players time to get over any knocks that they may be carrying.

“In training they’ve been looking sharp and we’re looking forward to playing again. St Mirren are a good side but we know that the match is about what we do on the park.

“There’s a few games that we need to catch up on in the new year so it’s important to finish the year with a victory.

“The players will get a few days off over Christmas but the ones in the development squad will be working away in case they are required for the first team.”
