Keeper moves out on loan

Youth team goalkeeper Glenn Daniels has joined Partick Thistle on loan till the end of the season.

The 19-year-old was on the bench today as Thistle lost 2-0 to Dumbarton with former Celt Scott Fox the first choice keeper at Firhill.

Daniels has shared goalkeeping duties with Leo Fasan for the u-20 side this season with Robbie Thomson back at the club following a successful loan spell at Stenhousemuir.

Fellow Celt Paul Slane is also on loan at Thistle but has only made three substitute appearances for the club.

Thistle have sent back-up keeper Ryan Scully on loan to Albion Rovers with Jackie McNamara explaining the moves on the Thistle website.

He said: “I’ve been keen to allow Ryan Scully to leave on loan since the start of the season but it is as simple as saying ‘away go on loan’ you need to make sure that you have cover as well and Glenn Daniels will provide that.”

Celtic’s loan policy this season hasn’t been the most successful with James Keatings and Lewis Toshney both struggling to make an impact at Hamilton Accies and Dundee respectively.

Keatings hasn’t played since the end of October while Toshney has failed to make the impact at Dens Park that he made last season on loan to Kilmarnock.

Down south Daryl Murphy has been a regular in the Ipswich Town side scoring five goals under Paul Jewell and Mick McCarthy.

Murphy appeared as a second half substitute away to Cardiff today with the point from a goal-less draw leaving Ipswich third bottom of the Championship between Wolves and Birmingham City.
