Tight Norwich pay the price

|

Gary Hooper newsSkinflint Norwich ended an embarrassing week by being dumped out of the FA Cup by non-league Luton Town.

A goal from substitute Scott Rendell ten minutes from time piled on the pain for the Canaries who were hammered 5-0 by Liverpool last Saturday inbetween two pitiful bids for Gary Hooper.

Not even the introduction of club captain Grant Holt as a second half substitute could save the day as Norwich became the first top flight club to be knocked out by non-league opposition in 24 years.

The home side were booed off the pitch at the final whistle while the 4,000 visiting fans celebrated reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Norwich haven’t won in the Premiership since December 15 and are just seven points clear of the relegation zone.

After rejecting a second bid for Hooper from Norwich Neil Lennon said: “The second offer from Norwich wasn’t that much bigger than the first. It was nowhere near £6million.

“It was completely rejected and even if it was £6m, it would be completely rejected. Gary has 18 months left on his contract, he’s a Celtic player and we are hoping it remains that way for the foreseeable future.
But our thinking is that come February 1 the contract offer will be withdrawn so Gary and his representatives have a lot to think about.”

We’re disappointed these things have come out again. I don’t know where they are coming from but they are not coming from us. We have had an improved offer for him – if you want to call it that – and that’s been turned down automatically.”

absolutely right. they were bloody terrible all huff and puff and nowt to show for it. Hooper stay were you are even if we come uo with £10mill because we are going down. Well done to Chris Hughton how to kill a club in 7 steps

    Yep pissed off

That was pittiful. Destined for Championship i’m afraid. We’re going to have real problems attracting new players now after this. Players like Hooper will not want to play in the Championship, even if he ever did fancy the Canaries, which is far from clear.

Are we realy that petty, another club bids for one of our assets and we go about reveling in there misery ? And a good club at that with good freindly people who follow them cmon bhoys were better than that.

Why’s Norwich getting all the shit cos they bidded for one of our players? Norwich have done nothing but praise out club since our friendly visit last season; with some Norwich fans claiming were now their ‘second club’.
I wish them all the best, and I hope they climb the table.

Sad to see, I like Norwich. I don’t think anyone is giving them shit, the article just says that their bid for Hooper was pitifu;. Even their fans have to admit that. He’s much more than a £5m player.

Keep plugging away Norwich! Plunder a lower league where you will find more than just a striker within your budget limitations. Keep the faith. HH.

  • Pauloantony says:

Yup…. I’ve even heard their own fans saying that the bids are that derisory that they don’t believe the club actually wants to spend .
Hooper … On vergeof England call up and european goals at the highest level?? £5.5m

    Give me peace

I wrote on my site that I thought Norwich were not serious in making their bids for Hooper. I haven’t seen or heard anything to alter that. My argument is We hear we have bid £10 mill on two players, Hoops and graham. The Graham one goes deathly quiet and we hear all the stuff about the Hooper derisory bids. My line of thought is if we have 10million why not bid 7-8 for hooper, if not then Graham. Better one than none… which is what we are getting.

All this 10 mill bussiness comes out just before the season ticket renewals and prices rises land on our mats, Look at us the club say’s we are doing well we have bid 10 million something we have never done before.

Am I a conspiracy theorist nut

Norwich guys, we hold you in high esteem! It’s natural that EPL teams try and nick out best players, though the SPL should be congratulated for producing good honest football on a tight budget! People should think about that! It’s a shame they try and nick our best but we are Celtic! We will always be bigger as we are not just a fiitball team!
Celtic, while I’m at it, you can get 50,000 every game but not everyone can afford £27 a ticket these days!
But of common sense required and maybe cost money but means testing and associated discounts could be a win win!

I know many Celtic fan that following the recent friendly games hold Norwich with high regard. However at boardroom level Norwich are treating Celtic with total disregard, clearly friendships forged have not reached such levels. If you plan on bidding for one of a clubs top players, especially from a different country, it can be done in a manner that will lead to minimal disruption. Norwich’s actions have made them look like amateur’s..
