West Ham move for Celtic target

West Ham have had Celtic target Juan Agudelo on trial at Upton Park.

The 20-year-old striker was joined in London by fellow US internationalist Graham Zusi but no deal has been put on the table.

Agudelo spent ten days with Celtic in November with Neil Lennon indicating that he would like to progress a deal.

“It was great to see how a team like that in the EPL handles themselves and how the players handle themselves,” Agudelo said. “I love that, I have that on the back of my mind.”

Agudelo has made no secret of his wish to play in Europe and isn’t expected to return to Chivas USA.

Asked about his future he admitted: “There’s nothing much that I control in the offices and such, just what I can do on the field. All I know is that I’m going to give whatever club I’m with 110 percent.”

During his time in Glasgow Agudelo was bowled over by the commitment of the Celtic support.

“I know the history, it’s basically a religion for many,” he stated.

“Just to have that there and have the support of the whole city would be lovely. Especially due to the fact they are consistently Champions League.

“Being in the group stage of the Champions League is huge. We’ll see what happens, I’d have to consider a lot of things but definitely, Celtic is a great club.”

Agudelo would need a work permit to play in the UK but as a current internationalist that should be a formality for Celtic.
