Charles Green has threatened to walkout on Sevco unless Malcolm Murray is axed as chairman.
Since the Sevco board has all been appointed by Green that move seems a formality with Murray likely to be axed just eight months after joining the board.
Green appointed Murray to have a ‘good Rangers man’ involved as fans became increasingly hostile to his bid which was preferred ahead of offers from the Blue Knights and a Walter Smith led consortium.
Murray has had a solid business background in the city of London and has failed to substantiate any of the wild claims that Green has been making in his worldwide tour of supporter clubs.
Deals with the Dallas Cowboys and adidas have failed to materialise, there is no sign of a stadium or shirt sponsor while talk of 500,000,000 fans worldwide or a turnover of half a billion pounds within five years are cringeworthy to serious investors.
According to the report in the Daily Record a source close to the club said: “Right now they are limping on together but Charles is a like a dog with a bone and Malcolm knows his position is under threat.
“In fact, Malcolm would have walked away by now had it been any other post at any other business.
“It’s only because of his love for the club that he’s prepared to dig his heels in and stand his ground. He feels a sense of duty.
“The situation is unstable and the whole episode is very embarrassing for the club at a time when Rangers should be moving forward together towards stability.
“This vicious, spiteful in-fighting does not reflect well on anyone.”
Newly appointed Ibrox communications director Jim Traynor has moved quickly in recent weeks to respond to claims that the club face a winding up order and that he sent his stories to Craig Whyte for approval before publication.
Having set that precedent his response to today’s story by his former employers will be eagerly anticipated.
