Lord Nimmo Smith announces dual contract judgement day

|

David Murray Rangers news

Lord Nimmo Smith’s eagerly awaited judgement on dual contracts operated by Rangers for over a decade will be announced at noon tomorrow.

The issue, which is unrelated to the still contested big tax case, revolves around payments being made to Rangers players and staff that weren’t declared in the contracts lodged with the SFA and SPL.

Last month Lord Nimmo Smith headed a four day enquiry which looked into the evidence which could see results overturned to 3-0 defeats for any matches that Rangers fielded players whose full registration hadn’t been declared to the football authorities.

A statement issued today read: “The SPL revealed the commission appointed in relation to “RFC 2012 Plc (now in liquidation) and Rangers FC and chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith” would publish its written decision at noon on Thursday.

The probe centres on payments made through the Employee Benefit Trusts set up by former Rangers chairman Sir David Murray.”

RFC 2012 Plc went into liquidation in the summer after failing to agree a CVA with their creditors including HMRC. Failure to qualify for the Champions League meant that the club was unable to meet it’s Income Tax and National Insurance contributions with administration announced on February 14.

Charles Green bought the assets of the club from administrators Duff and Phelps for a knockdown £5.5m fee and was given associate membership of the SFA and SFL despite having no audited accounts- a condition of entry for all recent membership applications.

Recent reports claimed that Green had been locked in a boardroom battle with chairman Malcolm Murray with little heard of from the former Sheffield United chief since that story surfaced with Murray remaining as club chairman.

SFA President Campbell Ogilvie was a Rangers director for six of the years covered by the Lord Nimmo Smith enquiry.

Apparently sales of whitewash in all Glasgow branches of B&Q have gone through the roof.

Expect no justice. There will be none.

Nothing to see here Timothy, move along now, remember ‘Fabric of Society ‘… as Neil comments above ‘ Don’t hold thy Breath ‘..

#EstablismentClub Play by their own rules. The authorities in this country are cowards when it comes to this m, so folk’s don’t be expecting to much regarding the consequences, that’s if the decision tomorrow even does go against them.

Personally, I find it really hard to put my faith in somebody called Lord Nimmo Smith, and I think I probably trust the Scottish judiciary about as much as the Libyan, Al Megrahi, did.

But I may as well be optimistic untill noon tomorrow. It should be a big day. Not only will we find out if ragers will lose their cheated titles or not, we’ll also find out if justice in Scotland is worth a toss or not. I can’t wait.

  • StarOfStein says:

What a lot of folks seem to forget in this case is yes its Lord Nimmo Smith who is the one who decides gulity or not guilty, but it is then put in the lap of the Sfa to then decide what the consequences etc are…

That same Sfa who still employ Campbell Ogilvie, a former employee of the club in question who benefited to the amount of £90 k quid..’ oh what a tangled web eh’ ..

  • StarOfStein says:

£90k in Ebts that is. #TheShamedCampbellOgilvie

TELL ALL THE HUNS YOU KNOW,THEY HAD 5 STARS NOW THEY’VE NO,YOU DIDN’T PAY TAX OR DECLARE ALL THE FACTS,SO F**K YOUR 5 STARS SAID NIMMO…

  • KevinBarry says:

Am I no right in thinkin that lord nimmo and co are just to find them guilty or not guilty? I think the punishment is to be set by the sfa. The sfa will just say they’ve been punished enough…

    • Monti says:

Oldco haven’t been punished at all.

      • KevinBarry says:

Oh I know, unfortunately nobody else in Scotland apart Celtic fans and a few others know this.

        • barcabuster says:

I think it is time to tell them then Kevin. If Rangers are found guilty. They should be stripped of the titles illegally won. All purse money received should be repaid by Sevco, as football debts form part of the 5 way agreement. Then a suitable punishment can be applied on top of these consequences. I am happy to let European teams and eufa decide on the European games they illegally played, using illegally registered players and illegally collected purse money for. Eufa can then decide on a suitable punishment, to protect the integrity of their competitions.

      • Celtico102 says:

Here’s a brain buster. If they are found guilty and they want to appeal, who appeals oldco or newco????? Hail hail

  • PJ44 says:

Do not expect all evidence was submitted in this case.I beleive that a guilty verdict will result in less reduced sentence re. E B T CASE.

  • KevinBarry says:

    @barcabuster I agree with u mate.

Just got a funny feeling that we won’t get the decision of punishment tomorrow. I’ve got a feeling that they will just find them guilty and then refer to the sfa for punishment.

  • Matt'a'bhoy says:

Just a wee look at the RM to see what they were saying about tomorrows anouncement…god they’re mental…it’s our fault by the way…but check this out…
If they strip us of any titles we should just resign from the league tomorrow. I don’t want to play in a corrupt system. hahahahahahahahah

  • williebhoy says:

The only verdict LNS can give is guilty, they are 100% bang to rights. We will hen have a circus as the SFA have meetings to decide a committee to decide on punishment / application of rules. Chico I am sure will come out with all guns blazing to “defend” the injustice, seek to appeal to appease the easily deluded but if he ONLY loses some silverware he will be doing handstands. Now the prize money which should be forfeited is another matter.

Anything less will see the end of Professional football in Scotland….No way will fans pay to see a clearly corrupt game.

  • Mick says:

If guilty the punishment will be stated tomorrow. SFA copped out and have left the determination of punishments to an “independent panel” IE Nimo Smith. I don’t in my heart believe they will get what they deserve, but it would certainly restore a little faith in this corrupt nation of ours if they did. Teams in the last couple of years have been kicked out of tournaments for a missing signature, so how can SFA not apply the same? Easy they give the decision to someone else, so they can claim it was not their decision.

  • Stevie says:

Neil Lennon attacked pitchside, verdict not proven.
That’s what Scottish justice does when you believe in it.

  • Monti says:

I cannae sleep,All rise,Oldco Monkeys we find you guilty of being cheating cunts

  • Joe says:

There is no need for a rocket scentist to be brought into this one. Do you think this has dragged on this long for nothing? They have been getting their ducks in a row to make sure they have every conceivable excuse and crafted reason ready to answer all questions why the verdict is “no case to answer”. Ask Neil Lennon about that one! They are all goat lovers together.
