One step from Hampden

|

Steve Frail Celtic newsCeltic’s u-20 side continue on the road to Hampden this afternoon when they host Kilmarnock in the semi final of the SFA Youth Cup, kick-off 2pm.

So far Celtic have knocked out Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen as they bid to lift the trophy for the fourth year running.

Today’s match will be the first time this season that the team has played at Celtic Park with coach Stevie Frail looking for his players to put on a display to match their surroundings.

“This is a perfect platform for them to play on,” he said. “We’ve maybe not played as well as we like, that’s partly down to other teams, so we have to add another dimension to our game.

“We’ve been winning without being at our best recently but we’re looking forward to getting on the big pitch and get a lift from that.

“Kilmarnock will get a boost as well, it’ll be a tough game, they always make it difficult and have a lot of good young players so hopefully it’ll be an exciting game but one that we believe we are equipped to win.

“Some of our squad played in last season’s final, they know what this tournament is about and want to go back to Hampden.

“There’s a lot of hard work ahead of us if we are to get there again. It doesn’t matter that we’ve been to Hearts and Hibs and beaten them as well as Aberdeen.

“This is a totally different 90 minutes and both teams will be desperate to make sure they make it to Hampden.”
