Neil Lennon passed the credit quickly to his players at the end of another eventful SPL campaign.

Since Christmas time Celtic’s home form has been outstanding with the team showing the style and class of champions developed over the past three seasons.

After surviving the first half yesterday and starting the second period brightly Inverness were swept away with the sort of football that gets supporters out of their seats.

Every goal yesterday had a special appeal from Gary Hooper’s back-healer to Georgios Samaras smashing the ball high into the net to put Celtic four up.

“I’ve got immense pride,” Lennon said afterwards. “Particularly in the second half it was indicative of the way we play, not just this season but the three years I’ve been in charge.

“When they really put their minds to it they can show what a great team they are. It’s a pretty special feeling, I never take these things for granted. From personal experience over the years winning the championship is the ultimate goal for any professional in football.”

Lennon added: “The first title was special for me but every title is the same. You don’t appreciate it as much when you are playing, it’s when you look back on your career you think ‘that was pretty good’.

“During the nineties this club was starved of success. Martin came in and revolutionised what was going on here, he brought a winning mentality and Gordon carried that on.

“This is the eighth championship in 13 years, the club is in a dominating position now.”
