Mo Bangura Elfsborg newsOn loan striker Mo Bangura is back on the goals trail with a double for Elfsborg in their 6-0 win over Brommapojkarna.

The result lifted Elfsborg into third place, three points behind leaders Helsingborg, who have a game in hand.

After a slow start to the season Bangura has taken his tally to 3 from 10 appearances since agreeing a season long loan back to Sweden.

Following the win over Brommapojkarna Elfsborg coach Jörgen Lennartsson said: “He (Bangura) was as good as I’ve seen him play scoring with two great shots into the top corner.

“He showed great focus considering he had only scored one goal in his previous matches- he is an important player with a lot to contribute to the team.

“Seeing him score twice is a big boost for everyone but the win was important for the team especially coming after losing to Helsingborgs last week.”

Bangura was badly effected by the sudden death of former AIK Stockholm team-mate Ivan Turina.

The 32-year-old Croatian goalkeeper died in his sleep on the night of May 2 plunging Swedish and Croatian football into mourning.

Discussing the loss of his former team-mate Bangura said: “He was like a big brother to me. We would stay out on the pitch after training and I’d take shots against him, after that we’d go for something to eat and a coffee.”

In his first match after the death of Turina Bangura wore a shirt saying: “27 Ivan Turina Mo will never forget you.”

Glad to hear he’s getting his game back. My impression of him is that he seemed wired to the moon playing for us, that is he done everything at a hundred miles an hour. Sorry to hear about his friend. Like 1888steven I’d like to give him another chance with us. Hail hail
