Craig Mather newsStand-in chief executive Craig Mather has issued an ominous warning against the so-called ‘enemies of Rangers’.

Despite a number of concessions made towards the newco and a plan to place them in the SPL then First Division there is a widespread belief that somehow the Ibrox side were given a tough time by the football authorities.

The terms of the secretive five way agreement that provided the club with associate membership has yet to be revealed with Mather fuelling the notion that the club was wronged by the events of last summer.

Speaking to a gathering of supporters in California the official club website reported Mathers as telling fans: “There will be times when you want us to tackle our enemies and it will seem like we’re somehow reluctant to do so or that we don’t care.

“You might believe we don’t feel hurt to the same extent as you but I’m here to tell you we do.

“Sometimes you have to wait. We have chosen and we will continually choose the right moment to strike.

“Please, please never believe that I or any other directors don’t know the names of the people who have tried to damage this club. We know all of them.

“We know what each one tried to do and I can assure you we will never, ever forget about that.

“Rangers is on its way back now and it’s more alive and united than ever. These gatherings show that and you are powerful proof of that.”

Mathers was brought to the club by Charles Green, snapping up £1m of shares at 1p each before the December floatation that valued shares at 70p.

Oh my Goodness! Do these peepil never learn! What is it with this club? They just seem to attract absolute thugs, wide boys, and failed businessmen! How do they ever expect to move on if they just keep standing still, and spouting the same old nonsense! I am honestly sick to the back teeth of hearing this mob issuing threats left right and centre, and nothing ever being done about it! Who the hell do they think they are!?

    The people, Janice.

his language is very inflamatory, the knuckle dragors will be roaming the streets looking for people to stab and kick to death, the police and the government should be taking action before there are any tragedies

Was not having the best of days for a couple of reasons, behind me now. Why?

I am so happy to see yet another halfwit putting his foot into his mouth.

Keep it going, there will be somone else in a few days doing the same.

Only sure thing it will not be the “cardigan”, as his puppet strings are as yet not fully functional, and it is possible he might say something sensible.

Should that happen they would have to shut up shop as it defeat their purpose of the quick clearance sale and a quicker route back to where they belong.

It’s their mentality, it’s how they were brought up and this was brought to the fore to me with a guy I work with. He’s originally from the Western Isles and moved to Glasgow and was taught that anything not Rangers or Protestant was the enemy.

Whilst you can never tar everyone with the same brush, this whole defensive posture Rangers have taken in the last few years has only set to fuel this undertone of hatred and bile. They believe they are victims and whilst in some ways I feel for the decent Rangers fans, their disbelief at how they’ve been treated has galvinised them into this melting pot of anger, betrayal and resentment.

The PR machine at Ibrox has in turn used this melting pot to their own ends in order to bring money in the door, effectively turning these sentiments against their own fans. Short term they get money, long term we get an already hate-filled Rangers on steroids when they get back to the SPL (IF??). It’s going to be worse than it was before and they cry bigot to anything anti-Rangers whilst they celebrate wading knee deep, screaming no surrender.

I laugh, yet it saddens me because the institution of Rangers has fueled this, with no regard to its impact on Scottish society merely to serve self-interest.

Surely this emotif veiled threatening brings the game into disrepute in the worst way. Will the SFA take any action? I can understand Mr Mather trying to drum up business from the triumphalist elements, who thrive on hatred and distrust, because they need a base and an outlet other than marching flute bands, and SEASON TICKETS MUST BE SOLD,but we all know the inevitable consequences when bigotry and paranoia flourish…

  • BillyBhoy0511 says:

These people are delusional and unfortunately they cannot be ignored because of the bile they spew can/will cause the knuckleheads to our their venom. Innocent people then suffer
