SFA face new challenge from Sevco

TPaul Murray Rangers newshe SFA could be on a collision course with Sevco over the appointment of Paul Murray and John McClelland as directors.

While their fit and proper person guidelines have been shown up by the appointments of Charles Green and Craig Whyte the laws regarding directors of clubs in insolvency events are clear cut.

Rule 10.2 (j) in the SFA’s Articles of Association excludes anyone who has been a “director of a club in membership of any national association within the five-year period preceding such club having undergone an insolvency event”.

Last night it emerged that Murray and McClelland could be appointed to the Sevco board in an attempt to avoid holding an EGM.

Both men were directors of Rangers (IL) until May 2011 and should be banned from being a director of any football club until May 2016.

With Campbell Ogilvie as President and Stewart Regan running for cover it is likely that the SFA will attempt to find a way around that ruling if recent events are any guideline.

Despite Rangers going into liquidation a highly secretive five way agreement was conjured up which attempted to place the newco into the SPL without any audited accounts.

A year after being given the red carpet treatment Sevco have still to produce audited accounts with the moves to bring in Murray and McClelland an attempt to avoid staging an EGM.

Led by Carmunock based billionaire Jim McColl a request by a group of rebel shareholders has been made for an EGM  to remove three current directors and appoint Murray alongwith Frank Blin.

With briefing and spin the order of the day the usual suspects were contacted last night with news of the compromise which will see Blin and Murray appointed to the board alongwith Sandy Easdale while Craig Mather, Brian Stockbridge and Billy Smart stay on board.

An AGM is expected in October but that will only be possible if audited accounts are released for shareholders to view.

With Mather recently admitting that ‘there is £10m in the bank’ despite a share issue in December of £22m it’s debatable whether any accountant will sign off the accounts confirming that the new club is a viable going concern.

The logic and benefits of appointing two directors who signed off the accounts of a club that ended up in liquidation seem uncertain.

      It’s really quite straightforward!

Sevco 5088 bought the assets of Rangers FC in a very friendly deal with Duff and Duffer for £5.5m.

Big ‘ands then bought Sevco 5088 for Sevco Scotland without telling Sevco 5088, big ‘ands also bought the ‘istory.

Sevco Scotland then changed it’s name to The Rangers International while the SFA gave it all a clean bill of health.

The share issue mentioned the club having the use of Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park- who owns it who knows. The original NOMADS were recently replaced for reasons unkown.

The audited accounts will clarify everything.

Thanx joe. I really do appreciate your good work. It’s easy to sound blasé in a chat box. It’s a lot lot harder to actually do real research. HH.

Colin, after rangers died their assets were bought by a company called sevco. rangers spl membership died with them. sevco applied for a new membership, changed their name to rangers and the new club was placed in the bottom tier, despite attempts to have them placed immediately in the spl and first division

All Rules subject to change at The Sfa’s discretion. Nothing to see here, move along now!!!

There’s been that much dirt that has previously been swept under the carpet these last few year’s, that the situation now is that the carpet is now buried under all the mounting dirt.. Football Authorities/Politicians/Police/Charity Regulators/Administrators/Law Lords&Lawyer’s/Media/Spivs/Etc.Etc…..

Hahaha well said Colin Garvey. I 100% couldn’t agree more. It’s just a massive stinking shit sandwich. And I for one am sick to the back teeth wi it. Obviously we realise that someone has to keep tabs on the situation but there’s good people out there doing just that. There’s a couple of things we know for certain Colin. The scabby horde and their team of travelling clowns will be back. And wherever and whenever that is. The glorious Glasgow Celtic will be waiting for them. HH.

There won’t be any collision between Sevco and the SFA over this.

When anything concerning Sevco is left solely in the hands of the SFA it always ends the same way, Sevco get what they want. Just look at the strict transfer embargo they imposed, eight players signed. Utter nonsense!

The question of Paul Murray joining the Sevco board has already been put to Ogilvie live on TV and his answer “I am not going to deal with hypothetical questions but there are articles in place – not always in black and white – that deal with these situations. The board will deal with these as they come up.” In other words there may be rules in place but there may also be ways of working around those rules, so we will wait and see what happens. If Sevco want Pual Murray on the board then it’s more than likely they will get their way…again.

The SFA isn’t a governing organisation it’s a cabal, and the fact that Peter Lawell has stepped into this nest of vipers really bothers me. I personally would much rather Lawell was on the outside fighting against Ogilvie and Co. pushing for their removal, than on the inside being tainted by them.

    Hail Hail.

    • Arthur says:

Agree totally. The whole Sevco debacle has only reinforced what we already knew, the governing bodies only function to the benefit of two clubs – the Huns and their bastard offspring!

  • luke says:

Peter Lawell’s joining of the SFA only justifies the presence of Campbell Ogilvie, and we will never get that guy out og there now.

    • Sweeney Hughes says:

Genuine question Luke, how does Peter Lawwell holding a position at the SFA ‘justify the presence of Campbell Ogilvie’ ?

I’m seriously interested in your answer Luke, especially what comparisons you are making between the two men.
