Derk Boerrigter newsNeil Lennon is looking forward to Tuesday’s Champions League clash with AC Milan following Celtic’s morale boosting win over Aberdeen.

Stoppage time goals from Derk Boerrigter and Kris Commons gave the hoops full points after Niall McGinn cancelled out Commons’ 36th minute opener in additional time played in the first half.

Those stoppage time goals lifted the mood around Celtic Park with Lennon looking to take the dividend into Tuesday’s clash with the Italian giants.

“Psychologically, today it gives us a massive lift,” the hoops boss admitted. “We won our home game against Ajax and played very well in the San Siro.

“Milan will be different, they have a couple of players back so all the ingredients are there.”

Boerrigter’s goal was the first since he moved from Ajax in the summer with the winger giving Lennon food for thought ahead of Tuesday’s match.

The Dutchman put in a succession of inviting crosses after replacing Teemu Pukki in the 64th minute before showing his team-mates the road to goal by converting from close range after Jamie Langfield had parried a header from Virgil van Dijk.

“I am delighted now and can’t wait to get more goals,” Boerrigter said. “But my first priority is to get fit again, to be at the level that I used to play and hopefully I can get more minutes.

“I am not entirely over my ankle injury but we are working hard to get there.

“It has been a long time. Before I came here I had the injury and I got a lot of kicks on it here. I got time off to recover and that helped and I am feeling better now.”

eThe spirit of the team is a plus point from
    today’s game.
Pukki still not convincing.Balde not ready for Tuesday.Stokes awol supposedly ?

Yet again, striking dept. big problem for tuesday. As always need big game from
    Sami.
Boerrigter might have played his way into the team after today’s cameo.Moreso, if
    forrest isn’t fit.
We also need a big game from Commons.

As always, WE the fans will play our part.
Tuesday result is in the lap of the Gods.

    Hopefully,in next season’s CL,we will have
more options in the striking dept. Not just
by way of numbers, but quality with experience.

WALK ON, WALK ON, WITH HOPE IN YOUR
    HEART.

I’m not convinced at all. We cannot ” get by ” with grit and determination alone. At some point we need to get some dominant flair play into our game.

I know I’ve just contradicted mysylf as we haven’t lost a league game this season. It’s just that I’m sick of being at odds with myself over results in the league.

How can we win 3-1 and 4-0 when the performance of our strikers is so poor? I totally agree that we need to buy a seasoned 25-30 goal a season striker in January not only for the obvious but also to free up our midfield to become more creative.

Take Commons for instance. I find his game has become very predictive recently, where are the scything runs from Broony and Ledley? Forest has put one brilliant cross in all season and Sammy!!! well Sammy’s, Sammy.
what I’m trying to get at I suppose is that a top class striker takes the pressure off these guys and lets
them produce the flair play that they obviously have in them.

Good result yesterday but against teams like Milan, we cannot keep going to the well we need to think about beating these teams with our “normal” game.

    hail hail
