Franck Ribery newsFranck Ribery has revealed the biggest wish of his football career- to play at Celtic Park.

The Frenchman was voted European Footballer of the Year last week after helping Bayern Munich lift the Champions League at Wembley.

Bayern stormed to the trophy demolishing Arsenal. Juventus and Barcelona on route to an all German occasion at Wembley where they beat Borussia Dortmund in a thrilling final.

Ribery has experienced almost all of Europe’s footballing cathedrals but won’t be happy until he’s played in Scotland’s most famous and revered arena

“The stadium was vibrating because there was so much noise,” he recalled about watching Celtic against Barcelona earlier this season. “I have never played at Celtic Park but I have spoken to players who have.

“They say I should experience it and I would like to play there and see what an amazing atmosphere it is.

“I watched the game with Barcelona on TV. I thought Celtic played well and merited a better result. But what I was really impressed with was the fans.

“They obviously love their football and that passion helped Celtic because Barcelona are a stronger team.

“It’s very important Celtic have these supporters and they could help them to get through the group.

“That passion really helps a team and we have that at the Allianz Arena.

“The Bayern fans are always singing my name and going mad even when we get a corner but to experience the occasion at Celtic would be good.”

Bayern are favourites to retain the trophy this season with the final returning to Lisbon.

Celtic and Bayern Munich have only played twice competitively with the Germans winning 2-1 at home in the 2003/04 Champions League and drawing 0-0 at Celtic Park.

Franck, Pep Guardiola, Jamie Redknapp et al alluding to the entrancing magic and allure of the almost mystical Paradise of Celtic Park…though to be fair, Andy Cameron and Marti Pellow think Ibrox is better! H×2

It’s always nice to hear world stars pay tribute to our club but honestly Franck I’d rather play Bayern on a neutral venue (in the final) than play you in the next round at this moment in time. Maybe next year at the group stages “hope so”
    Hail hail
