Ibrox ParkAfter less than a week up the hallowed marble staircase Sevco chairman David Somer has started his task of filling the boardroom with spiv-sympathetic directors.

While the Murray boys howl for good Rangers men with the interests of the club at heart Somers has brought in Norman Crighton who is described as an investment banker into the board as a non-executive director.

Announcing today’s move a club statement said: “Mr Crighton has been involved in most aspects of investment banking during the course of his 23-year career.

“Mr Crighton will chair a new Investment Committee of the board whose terms of reference will include overseeing capital projects.

“In accordance with Rangers’ Articles of Association Mr Crighton will be subject to re-appointment by an ordinary resolution at the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the Company on Thursday 19 December 2013.”

The AGM the week before Christmas is unlikely to be filled with festive cheer between the warring factions.

Speaking to Radio Scotland on Monday former chairman Malky Murray expressed his confidence that the Ibrox rebels would win the votes at the AGM.

The appointment of more directors suggests that the current directors are confident of winning the day when they will have to stand for election alongwith four rebel appointments led by Paul and Malky Murray who are unrelated.

Crighton’s appointment is bound to anger Paul Murray who is attempting to win a place on the board despite being banned by the SFA since he was on the Rangers board within a yearof the club entering liquidation.

Speaking to the Daily Record this week  Paul warned: “The board has no mandate to do this and David Somers should not appoint any directors until after the agm.

“If David Somer is as independent as we are told he is then he’ll act in the best interests of the club.

“Appointing a chief executive on a large salary at this juncture is not in the best interests of Rangers.

“I hope to meet David Somers in the next few days and I’ll ask him to prove he really is independent and determined to do what is best for the club.”

Current manager Ally McCoist is likely to have a crucial say in the AGM vote having snapped up 3% of the new clubs shares for £10,000 alongside his business partners Charles Green and Imran Ahmad.

From now on Crighton will be referred to as Mr Crighton in light of his new found status.

Sevco’s only long history has been is in the Third Division and that is seriously where it belongs. As for the fans being the best in the world. . .the best at what exactly? Wrecking towns all over Europe and Britain. Singing songs of hate and bigotry and lowering the tone of society to the levels that even Margaret Thatcher would be proud of.
    Same old…same old!!
