Shunsuke Nakamura Celtic newsThe magical free-kick talents of Shunsuke Nakamura are branching into more and more areas.

During his four years at Celtic the midfielder scored many special goals including a title winner at Kilmarnock and spectacular efforts home and away against Manchester United in the Champions League.

Nakamura was famed for the hours put in on the training ground perfecting his technique and is still earning plaudits as he runs down his career with Yokohama Marinos.

Those skills are now in demand off the pitch with his latest stunt involving curling a free kick at a wedding reception to knock the model of the bride and groom off the top of the wedding cake!

After completing the ‘trick’ Nakamura is seen celebrating with the family of the bride and groom.

Previously Nakamura had taken a free-kick which passed through a moving bus.

The Japanese icon joined Celtic in 2005 in a £3m deal from Reggina in Italy and quickly showed that he was at the club for more than commercial reasons as Gordon Strachan’s side regained domestic control in Scotland.

In his first season in the Champions League Nakamura scored the only goal of the game in 2006 when Celtic defeated Manchester United to reach the last 16 of the competition for the first time.

After three SPL titles Nakamura’s form dipped as Celtic allowed the title to slip away with the midfielder moving onto Espanyol at the end of his contract.

Following just one season in La Liga he returned to Japan where he became the first player to collect the J-League Player of the Year for a second time by winning the 2012 award.

THE LAST CLASS PLAYER TO PLAY FOR CELTIC.
WHAT A PLAYER, I CAN STILL HEAR THE IDIOTS
SHOUTING CHASE BACK YA LAZY BAS…..

    • Monti says:

      JOJOPICASSO,
Fans shouting ‘chase back’ aren’t idiots, working hard for the team & being succesful includes ‘ chasing back ‘!!!

  • JOJOPICASSO says:

    YOUR MISSING THE POINT.
    BUT THEN AGAIN .
    YOUR PROVING THE POINT.

  • Doughal says:

Genius of a man .Fergies face after that free kick ! Priceless !!

  • Jacko says:

The point is he was lowered to our poor standards instead of us raising our game, class player

    • bribhoy says:

Another averages player fitted in with spl standards which made him look good. Wouldnt get into a M O’ N team.

  • PJarvis says:

The touch and vision he had was outstanding.
I had the privilege of being there when he scored that belter of a free kick against Manchester United.
Van Der Saar knew where it was going, Fergie knew where it was going and the fans knew where it was going but there was nothing stopping it once it left that wand of a left peg.

What we would give to have Naka in our
team, if only he was 5 years younger.

His touch, vision and fearless in taking the
ball in tight spaces, was a joy to watch.

How our team badly needs a player with
      his creativity and skills.
Come to think of it,he could probably still
do a job for us now.

It’s great to see how much joy he still gets from kicking a football.

  • Andybhoy says:

Darren fletcher told this one to mick’ McManus while on a Scotland away game trip not long after we beat man utd at parkhead. Fergie comes into dressing room absolutely beelin and shouts at van der sar ‘are you buyin that wee jap’s DVD? Because you are in it twice ya big useless ba&ta5d. Classic!!

  • Frank McGaaaarvey says:

What a feckin genius this man is. Sadly missed from the Hoops. What would we give to have him in the team now at his peak.

  • Steveo says:

Naka was a genius and would easily have got into the team that Mon had whether MoN would have picked him remains to be seen!!

One thing I noticed about Naka esp when playing in Europe was that opposing teams would always double and triple up against him but they wouldn’t go diving in on him as they knew he could make them look foolish. Alternatively whenever any of our other players esp the scottish ones got the ball they would harry us into making a mistake but they knew Naka wouldn’t make a mistake or give the ball away cheaply.

A true genius him and the HG won us that 3 in a row as much as WGS!!

  • thomas Haverstock says:

One off the best players every to put on the Celtic shirt Naka has still go it Hail Hail JMJ
