Ally McCoist liquidationDonald Findlay has delivered a scathing assessment on Ally McCoist’s League One winners.

The Cowdenbeath chairman spent almost a decade at Ibrox as David Murray’s right hand man keeping the true blue’s onside with regular gags about Celtic as the hoops toiled to compete with the club bankrolled by the Bank of Scotland.

Should McCoist survive he can look forward to visiting Central Park, Cowdenbeath next season with Findlay warning that the current Ibrox squad aren’t up for the challenge despite a £9m player budget.

“A lot of people I know have watched a lot of Rangers and they wouldn’t have won the Championship this season,” the Cowden supremo admitted. “No chance. Not a cat’s chance in hell.

“The football sometimes isn’t great, but there are a lot of old pros in the Championship who know how to avoid losing matches. On any given day, most of the teams in the Championship could have beaten Rangers.”

As well as having his side’s performances criticised McCoist incurred the wrath of many supporters with a karaoke appearance at Ibrox on Sunday night hours after the defeat from Raith Rovers.

Findlay was axed by Rangers after singing sectarian songs at a post cup final party in 1999 and defended McCoist’s right to karaoke the night away after being humiliated by Raith.

“When we won, we partied, when we lost, we partied harder,” Findlay added. “You put guys like McCoist, Andy Goram and Paul Gascoigne in a room and say to them that we’re going to have a miserable night.

“Give us a break. No chance. That’s just ridiculous. They lost a football match. Not a bloody war.”

Kane Hemming, who was freed by Sevco last summer, is Cowdenbeath’s top scorer with 19 goals in 30 appearances.
