Celtic and Stromsgodset have agreed a £300,000 compensation package to free Ronny Deila to take over as hoops manager.

Talks between Peter Lawwell and Tore Pedersen , Delia’s agent, went well yesterday with the deal accelerating through the course of Thursday.

Lawwell traveled to Norway today to hold face to face talks with the Stromsgodset boss and returned with his man to Glasgow tonight to complete the deal.

The Norwegian side had demanded £500,000 with Celtic offering £200,000 with a compromise figure agreed late this afternoon.

Stromsgodset had vowed to hold on to their manager but after yesterday’s talks their only option was to strike the best deal possible for their manager.

Deila is likely to be unveiled as Celtic manager on Friday and will begin he task of forming his backroom team.

Former Celt’s John Collins and Willie McStay are in the frame for the assistant manager’s role with Deila expected to bring in some of his coaches from Stromsgodset.

Deila’s arrival comes exactly two weeks after Neil Lennon resigned and gives the new man a three weeks to prepare to prepare for pre-season training and the second round draw for the Champions League.

One of the first signings of the Deila regime is expected to be former Hearts keeper Craig Gordon who has been out of football for three years since being injured at Sunderland.

Deila will be given a substantial transfer budget and will be keen to speak to a number of current players to determine if anyone is wanting to move before he begins to bring in his own players.
