Ronnie Deila has revealed that he has already sampled the special magic of Celtic.

Early last season the Stromsgodset looked at the fixture list and found two matches 200 miles apart that were too good to resist.

Matchday two of the Champions League threw up Manchester City v Bayern Munich on the Tuesday with Celtic hosting Barcelona 24 hours earlier.

That double date proved too much for the ambitious young coach to resist, as he looked around Celtic Park with his phone in hand he could never have guessed that less than a year later he’d be sitting in the home dug-out.

“I was here for the game against Barcelona,” he revealed. “I went to the Under-19 match and then the first-team match. The day before I had been at Manchester City v Bayern Munich for the Under-19’s and the first team.

“It was an unbelievable experience. I’m not a person for taking pictures but I filmed the fans singing You’ll Never Walk Alone before the match and showed it to my girls.

“I’ve been at Liverpool but the atmosphere here is even better. I’m stunned by the club. It’s unbelievably big and it makes me very proud.

“Also it gives me the energy to work, to look forward to working with the boys and the staff. I work every minute thinking what is best for me.

“I know one thing, I need energy for my players and for my staff. I know I need a good relationship with media and sponsors but it’s all about the product on the pitch.

“I’m an emotional guy. I love to win of course. But the best thing I know is when you have a good performance on the pitch and you win and the atmosphere is like what is was here for Celtic v Barcelona.”
