Henrik Larsson remains in contention for the Celtic manager’s job according to reports from Sweden.

The next 48 hours will reveal whether or not Roy Keane will take up the job of succeeding Neil Lennon but the initial bookies favourite for the job is still in contention.

On Saturday, after watching his side Falkenberg lose 1-0 away to Helsingborgs, the legendary striker was quizzed by Swedish reporters about continued interest from Celtic.

In a move more associated with the other side of the city during the glory/tax dodging days, it was claimed that Celtic officiasl jetted into Angelhom Airport, near Helsingborg, in a private jet to meet with Larsson.

“Who told you that?” Larsson responded. “I do not know anything either, you can interpret that any way you want.”

Relaxing slightly Larsson added: “It is a fantastic club where I became the player I was. When I got into the coaching profession, I knew the manager’s job would always be associated with me.

“After signing for Celtic, I didn’t know how much the club meant to the people there. I’ve seen managers going to Celtic who thought that it was just ?another club but it’s more than that.

“I think I understand what it means to be the manager ?there and what is expected of you. And I definitely think I’m capable.”

After three seasons managing Landskrona BOIS Larsson is in charge of Falkenberg for their first ever campaign in the Allsvenskan.

Saturday’s defeat at Hensingborg was their first loss in six matches leaving them in 11th place in the 16 team division.

Larsson’s next match will be at home to Halmstad on Saturday- unless there is a dramatic turn of events at Celtic.
