Karaoke McCoistFinancial realities are finally dawning on Ally McCoist.

As the latest rounds of redundancies take place across the club the £800,000-a-year manager is unlikely to be adding to his squad next month with Deek Llambias the first executive to mention the n word- no.

Last month, against McCoist’s wishes, the club played Alloa on an international weekend- with £8m needed in January to see the season out any transfer activity is likely to be one way.

Forecasting the events of the transfer window McCoist admitted: “I would think financial decisions might not be mine, I will possibly be included in the conversation and the decision.

It goes without saying that very few managers make financial decisions at clubs so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if any decision was made by someone else – but I would be consulted. I respect everything that’s going on at the football club right now.”

Looking at the non-footballing redundancies he added: “There are more important things going on concerning people’s jobs, people’s livelihoods. That, for me, takes precedence over anything else happening in the football department.”

No matter what our squad is like, we will be trying to get up, that won’t change. That’s 100 per cent the focus. I’d be happier trying to do that with as strong a squad as possible but I can understand the delicacies within the club at the moment.

I am in contact with Derek Llambias and the chairman. If I have anything to ask, or they need to see me, we contact over phone, email or I see them in person.

With a dozen first team stars out of contract at the end of the season it’s unlikely that any worthwhile transfer money will be brought in although paying off players would make some small savings.
