Kenneth McDowall looks to be on the brink of talking himself out of Sevco.
While Ally McCoist blanked questions about his future after handing in his resignation his successor has been quite happy to slam the situation at the troubled club.
After declaring that his appointment as manager was tainted McDowall has described the working conditions within the club as a nightmare!
For good measure he’s glad for McCoist’s sanity that he is no longer in the firing line.
Other than Newcastle stiffs and players out of contract it’s hard to imagine any agent willing to send their client to Ibrox when the transfer window opens.
Before Saturday’s 4-0 hammering at Hibs McDowall painted a bleak picture of life inside Sevco as he spoke to the Sunday papers.
“As a friend, I’m glad to see him out of the firing line,” he said about McCoist’s move into the gardening industry. “For his sanity and for his family. What the guy has gone through and endured has been unbelievable.
“His concern was for people at the club rather than himself. It’s astonishing what he had to deal with. Only people on the inside know what he has done.
“It has been a nightmare here for three years. People on the outside are bored with it now but we’ve had to eat, sleep and drink it.
“Myself, Ian Durrant and Jim Stewart have been there every step of the way with Ally. We’ve been with him at times when we’ve had to try to keep him upbeat but he was trying to keep everyone else upbeat.
“For that alone, he’s a star. He’s keen to get back into football but deserves a break now.”
McDowall is believed to be on a salary of around £200,000 for his living nightmare and is now heading up a management team of Gordon Durie and Lee McCulloch.
Despite the bleak conditions painted by his trusted assistant McCoist is on record as stating how enjoyable it was to work with Mr Whyte, Mr Green, Mr Mather, Mr Wallace and Mr Llambias who he discussed January transfer targets with.
