Ronny Deila gave Celtic fans a 20 minute glimpse of how he wants his side to play the game.
During that spell Anthony Stokes scored the only goal of the game as Celtic beat Motherwell 1-0 to win their seventh successive SPFL match.
By the time that Stokes drilled home a cut-back from Stefan Johansen John Guidetti had already missed a good chance- shooting wide of Dan Twardzik’s right hand post after being sent through on goal in the second minute.
Guidetti’s afternoon didn’t get much better with further chances missed although he was denied a spectacular first half overhead kick due to the linesman’s flag.
The same linesman made another honest mistake when he awarded Celtic a corner kick when an arm went up to prevent an Adam Matthews cross from reaching the goalmouth
“First 20 minutes was top level, I want to show the players more of that,” Deila explained. “If we can get 90 minutes with that level, we’re going to be a hard team to beat.
`”We need to score more goals. It’s about practice and skills and it’s about getting confidence. I think John was very frustrated today but he has scored a lot of goals and strikers get these periods sometimes but he will come back.
“We win games, that’s positive. We have a good mood in the group, it’s a good atmosphere. We’re working every day to improve and I see signs every day that we’re getting somewhere but we are not there yet, it’s a lot of work still.”
The second half became an embarrassing catalogue of missed chances although Twardzik in the Motherwell goal was in exceptional form.
At the start of last season the goalkeeper joined his twin brothers at Celtic for a brief trial spell, with Lucasz Zaluska out of contract at the end of the season Celtic could do much worse than bring in the Motherwell stopper as back up to Craig Gordon.
